I recently acquired a used octatrack and had taken the CF card out to try out the demo mode. I now seem to be stuck in demo mode. With the CF card inserted the octatrack continually tries to load demo mode and then crashes over and over. With no CF card inserted the device boots into demo mode and operates fine. I’ve tried booting with the function key held down and can access those menus but still cannot get the device to boot into anything other than demo mode. When I first got the device everything ran fine and I was able to boot into the normal mode with the CF card inserted. Please help!
Sounds like the card has been corrupted or damaged, or that the card-reader has been damaged.
One thing to try is to use the CF card in an external card reader to see if it mounts, if it doesn’t then you know the card is corrupted/damaged. If it mounts externally, then it may mean your card reader has been damaged. It’s always a good idea to insert the card carefully and check first there’s no debris in either the card or slot.
So you either need to get hold of a card reader or a card or another OT to test in … might be worth taking a photo inside your slot (if you are brave enough to eject/insert … do this at your own risk … although it sounds like the damage may be there already if it’s not the CF card itself)
Hope it works out

Hold the [No] button and Power on. Does that help?
else
Hold the [Function] button and Power on. A menu will be shown. Press [Trig 02] ’ Empty Reset’. Does that help?
Thanks for the replies! I have tried the restart via the function key and trig 2 but this does not solve the boot issue as it still boots in demo mode. A little strange that it boots in demo mode with no card inserted
I’m worried that I damaged the card reader after taking the CF out the first time.
Did you try the first suggestion?
I had loaded a couple of samples onto my card and forgot to save them to the card. Could this possibly have caused the issue?
I have not tried holding down no but I will as soon as I’m home. Thanks for the suggestion!
Yes it still booted in demo mode
Zachc7, what was your solution, curious to know
I have this same issue, has anyone come up with a solution for this?
When I try to reset it with empty reset it just cycles. when I boot holding it no it boots into demo mode. my story is identical to the original poster’s story. bought it used, worked fine but wanted to just hear some demo stuff since ive never heard it play, and now its stuck in demo mode.
empty reset does nothing. boot and holding no does nothing, nothing does anything.
