There is more to explore. I used different techniques, using recorders, or cue outs with thru tracks and cables…
Unexpected trick : a track recording itself and INAB for noise input : tame feedback with RATE pitch down. Tuning remaining the same forced by comb filter (example in video’s beginning).
Basically, but I use comb filters frequencies independently from the feedback loop time, and it forces tuning. They have their own feedback.
Steampipe allows to tune delays with a feedback loop with filters, envelope, drive, which is different.
I tried to use OT delay, 100% wet (DIR off). Not easy to tune : it is added to feedback time (64 samples minimum). Also Martin from 112db, Steampipe creator, said tuning also depends on filters in the feedback loop (low pass and hi pass) because they change phase.

Octatrack is starting to turn into a real playground for me with the different templates I’ve built and downloaded from different folks, as a machine it can be so many things… Reaching the point where two octatracks might make sense LOL.
I wonder if this is also related to the phenomenon with decay on filters that makes a fast decay make a note sound flat? If I understand the K-S architecture, you have a filter in the feedback loop of the delay that is kind of serving that function.
On the OT’s comb filter I hear that when turning down the LPF and the compensate with the fine-tuning pitch control.
Since the Steampipe is based on a Reaktor ensemble from the same maker you could probably reverse engineer it even more as you can just pull apart the Reaktor ensemble and see how it’s been made.

This picture below suffice to me (from Erica Synth), and anyway I have to cheat with OT. Steampipe uses complex tuning compensation when using lowpass and hipass filters in the feedback loop.
With OT comb filters it can force tuning.
