Octatrack price buying advice

Hi there,
I’m over the used market for samplers and as many, I’m indecided between getting an Octatrack or an MPC Live/One as sampler, also to detach myself definitively from the DAW/Ableton.

By watching videos, reading comments and reading other threads regarding this topic, I got that they are different instruments, with different goals, so I’ll get them both.

I just need to decide how to invest on them.

What I tought is that it’s not worth to invest into the Octatrack MK2 for just the improved out, UI and screen, especially if I would like to get also an MPC.
If I wanted to get only the Octa, perhaps the expense of a brand new Octa mk2 would have been justified.

But as my goal is to get both, i think that a used Mk1 would be fine, I’m already used to the Elektron workflow with the old MD and MNM, so the improved UI would not be really justified bonus here.
I’ve both mk1 of Rytm and A4, so the new layouts of MK2 is not something that I’m used to.
Moreover I read about more bugs and problems about the Octa mk2 than the mk1, but could be only a limit on what I’ve read.

So, I would invest then for a new MPC One when they will be available, in this way I could get for the price (more or less) of a single Octatrack MK2, an used Octatrack MK1 and a new MPC one.
The Octa for mangling and live improvisation, the MPC One for track building purposes.

I found an offer for an Octatrack mk1, bought in november 2017, brand new and barely used, so with still some months of warranty included, with the seller asking for 700€.
I’ve found other offers also for 600€, but they were older machines and not so well maintained, probably 3rd hand machine and some got also Elektron maintenance, with yellowish knobs.

Is that a fair and worth price in your opinion for an Octatrack Mk1 like the described one?
Opinions on my plan getting MPC and Octa combo are welcome too!

Thank you!

For the MK1 between €600,- and €700,- is a very good price, when is in 100% good condition. The MK2 between €900,- and €1000,-

Yep, initally he asked for 800€, but I managed to get it lower till 700€.
He said that he can’t go more lower than that.

€700,- is a really good price

Yeah for a still a little under warranty, thats a good price for an MKI.

I’d agree with your thinking if you want to buy both.
The MKI has been a magical machine long before the MKII came along.
The added functions are very handy indeed, but not a deal breaker either.

Would you stand by this now in 2023? Or would you up the price a bit now?

I’ve an offer of a “perfect condition” black OTmk2 for €1050 (€1107 total for delivery+insurance), wondering if it’s a decent deal

Waw, when I think I bought my OT MKII new for 1056€…

Yeah it’s value went up since, Elektron sell it for 1.599,00 EUR, and I can get it from Thomann for €1489. I notice the old receipts ppl post are much cheaper.

I’m just struggling to value a used one now.

Yeah that’s mad, 50% more for the same product, can’t explain it. Don’t tell me that’s inflation at this rate.

I don’t know where you’re from but a 10 sec search on the french market gives 8 OT MK1 for prices between 575€ to 700€.

I was about to tell you no more than 700€ before I checked.

EDIT: sorry I forgot to precise I would rather buy the MK1 if it’s a 2nd hand. I do have an MK2 but I don’t think it justifies the price difference, it’s more cosmetic than really a V2.
MK2 are from 900€ to 1K here.

That’s cheaper than what I see on the spanish market and on Reverb.

I wonder would the guys on the french marketplace ship to spain, which site is it?

And btw after getting fast at the A4mk2 I’ve pretty much decided I want an OTmk2, it just seems ppl are over-pricing their used ones a bit

Sure I could have put the link, thanks for that

Look at the ones that marked “Livraison Possible” (Shipping possible) on the right side, green boxes.
