Hi there, I’ve just created a new set in the octatrack mkII and I’ve noticed that even though the audio folder has been copyed in the new set there are plenty of samples missing in it.
But if I just close the new set and get into the “PRESET” one the audio folder is there as well but with all the samples still available.
Should I copy manually through my MacBook all the samples in the new Audio folder in the new set?
In that case I’ going to use loads of memory which is not ideal isn’t it…
Hope it does make sense, any advice?
Many thanks!
Do you really need a new Set?
A new Set uses a new empty audio pool to be shared between projects within the set…
If your wanting to use the same samples a new Project within the original Set will suffice.
I think I actually did copy the entire audio pool into a new set when I first got my OT just to leave the preset Set intact and have a new Set with its own name and still have access to the factory samples. So far I have lots of room left on the card so it’s not a big deal…
Theres some more functions and options too regarding collecting samples used in a project, purging samples not used in a project, and having samples being stored in the project folder instead of the audio pool…
You have to manage this via a computer.
You set the OT to USB Disk Mode when connected to a computer, and then a file browser will come up.
I did this myself because I didn’t want the Presets project to be present (OCD). All you do is copy the “Audio” folder to the root folder of the set. It takes a few minutes and you’re good to go.
Be sure to “Eject” the OT via the connected computer, don’t just unplug anything or exit.
I personally prefer this much more than the Digitakt’s method of managing directories in the unit itself. I’m a folder-y type of person though.
Cheers guys, both your prompt answers helped me clear things up.
Peace
I’ll guess your main usage with just a single project and no samples at all leaves really lot of space (even on a 512MB CF card) …

Serious question: How much is a project backup in your case? A few MB I’ll guess?
Project backup is 21MB for OT project files…
Course you got to add my 2 samples, but just one copy as all my projects as are just iterations of the same.
-Alan Watts “The journey to where you already are”: 46MB
-Prince saying “Don’t hate me cause I’m beautiful” from the song Prettyman: 2MB
