more headroom，because a4 ar’s output is hot，when mk1 octa came out 10 years ago，there were only mm md out there，those were unbalanced out machine

Back then I had just purchased the 10th Anniversary MD.

All of the above happened back then!

I just bought this one to add to it and my MnM.

The Octatrack has been on my radar for a long time.

Looking forward to growing and expanding some friendships as I dive deep.

100% this. I feel like getting into something like the OT and then complaining it’s ‘outdated’ is missing the point — a lot of people with these types of gripes should just get Ableton and be done with it.

There’s truth to this but the flip side is equally as valid. The UI//screen is outdated. Getting around the thing is awkward. The world has moved on in 10 years to the extent that anything relying on a screen as much as the OT does is not going to fare well. It’s not unfair or being obtuse to criticise the OT on these points.

But it is what it is - a crazy box of fun. I just can’t believe they’re still able to charge £1,200 for it!!!

Not sure if I’ll return to an OT one day. Probably not now. But if an OT2/flagship sized new sampler appeared I’d likely be all over it.
