Octatrack MK 2 Audio Input A/B issues

Hi guys

I have the OCT MK 2 with latest OS, purchased brand new end of 2021. Not used it much as I have an older one in my studio

Just sat down with the newer one and trying to route a td3 through it using the thru setting but experiencing issues, I wondered if anyone else has had similar or can suggest something I might be doing wrong

Using the audio jack to Input A (or B) there is no sound coming through unless I move the encoder B, while im moving the encoder I can hear the td3 but as soon as I let go, the sound stops. Ive tried using other cables, creating new projects etc but still the same issue, Input C and D work fine

I read that there was some input issues relating to first gen mk 2 but not sure if mine is first or second gen

any suggestions to a setting I might be missing ?

here is a short vid of the issue

cheers

Okay, just a quick diagnostic:

  • Have you trigged the track?
  • Does that trig have any sort of Plocks on it? Eg, have you plocked the trig so that the input is -64 by accident, and when you move it, it overrides your plock?

Additional thing to mention, if you want as close to source gain as possible, use the volume amp set to +64/63 and the track LVL to 127. Then turn down your input page to the default setting of 0. I think that this is cleaner than input to +64 and volume at default 0.

Thanks for your reply
There’s nothing in the trigs What confuses me and makes me think it’s maybe a hardware fault is that C / D inputs work fine
I get the yellow indicator which shows me sound is coming in to A B but the encoder only releases the sound if I move it. As soon as my fingers let go. The sound cuts

I’ll try the suggestion you mentioned about levels
Thanks :pray:t4:

Hey. Just tried that and worked like a dream

Thank you so much. Was beginning to think u was going to have to ship it off Phew!!!

Not a problem mate, glad it’s working for you now! Although you’re not triggering a sample, you need to open the amp envelope on a thru track via placing a trigger, caught me out when I first got an octatrack! Have fun
