Hi everybody,
Im having some issues operating my grandmother and rytm via Midi. I’m trying to sequence my grandmother but I haven’t been able to get it to work. The midi connection with the the rytm on the other hand has been working fine. I just can’t seem to get them to both work at the same time. Any suggestion will help ( how to properly connect them/ daisy chain or settings) thank you!
What exactly do you want to achieve?

I’m simply trying to use the midi to sync the rytm via clock, which ive already out figured out mostly.
What i’m trying to figure out is how to sequence the grandmother through the octatrack/play notes through the octatrack. Also confused on how to properly connect the midi cables from the octatrack. Octa midi out -> Rytm Thru -> Grandmother in?
I’m a new octatrack user just a few months so im not the best at explaining this kind of stuff :0

Easy. OT midi out> RYTM midi in
RYTM midi THRU > Moog midi in.
OT sends clock and transport. RYTM recieves clock and transport.
Open a midi track on your OT, you need to set the midi channel for that track. Follow instructions in manual. Make sure your moog is set to recieve midi on the same midi channel.

@Microtribe I’m not sure that would work? I don’t think the Rytm MIDI out forwards messages coming from IN. In other words it’s can’t be used as a THRU but maybe I’m wrong? I think OP had it right the first time. OT out to Rytm in, Rytm THRU to Moog. From there it’s just setting up channels and settings from within OT and Moog. MIDI thru sends out basically a copy of what’s coming into MIDI in. However if you went out from Rytm into Moog, you’d have to sequence from the Rytm.
Try
GM OUT -> OT
OT OUT -> GM
GM THRU -> Rytm
Pick a channel on the GM. Set the OT Auto Channel to match that one on the GM. A good choice is one unused by the Rytm for any of its channels, for clarity, but the OT auto redirection should keep you “safe” from accidentally playing notes on the Rytm. Maybe also set the Rytm auto-channel to match the same one. You might need to turn the GM to Local Off (so its keys don’t directly play its synth engine); some modern synths filter out duplicates of their own transmissions so this might not be necessary.
On the OT turn OFF Audio MIDI CC… oh, dammit, it’s too late and my brain’s run out of power. I can’t remember the names of the settings. Basically turn off all the Audio-MIDI stuff on the OT unless you want to use OT knobs to control the GM or Rytm. Should be in MIDI -> Settings. Also set the OT MIDI track/s you wish to ise for the GM to the same MIDI Ch the GM uses.
If ayou go with @Microtribe’s suggestion, the Rytm THRU seems like a better option.
My config lets you feed note data into the OT, which I assume would help sequence it.
