Octatrack midi CC assign trouble

I’m not sure it will work as per the microkorg, but it should give some hope … three sequential cc messages should do the trick (but be sure to enable sysex mode on the device to allow nrpn messaging) good luck

a midi monitor will at least allow you to track whether the OT is doing as expected, and check that you have three consecutive CC’s in right order, especially wrt firing off the initial cc parts of the nrpn string

it’s possible that some devices will operate differently wrt ‘priming’ these nrpn messages so that you can rely on sending only the changing part … as I said, worked OK for korg, so you may get lucky

Just short of a year down the line and I have purchased the Stereotoping esq8 unit shown in the initially linked unit. It works great, I can adjust multiple cc’s live on the fly on the actual unit, I can also set up cc’s on the ot to set default levels for my patches. The only problem I’m having with it however, is that I can’t p-lock the cc’s.

Whenever I do, it seems to confuse my SQ80 and the changes are applied about 5 seconds later, or the locks will apply to the next selected note. So far I have tried splitting the tracks, so one sends notes and one sends p-locks, and putting the same patch on seperate midi channels, creating a separate track for both channels on the ot and selecting different cc settings for each track. Neither have worked.

I’m thinking it might be due to the NRPN nature of the SQ80 and the fact the OT can only hold 8 assignable CC’s - maybe the ot only has capacity to automate 2 NRPN values at a time as these require three cc’s for the translation to NRPN (which the ESQ8 does). I’m hoping one of you guys can tell me otherwise though? I’ve linked the midi monitor so you can see whats going on with the p-locks put in place:

Can no one help me out here? :disappointed_relieved:
