Octatrack Compressor

Few Questions:

Does anyone else know what the compressor is remodeled after?

Does anyone have any Tips or Tricks?

What are your guys thoughts anyone love or hate it.

I personally love it and even use over hardware compressors sometimes especially on kicks and snares.

Here’s some close study:

There are many more tips and tricks if you search on “compressor” in the Octatrack category.

Personal approach :
Set RATIO to max
Set THReShold by hear, it lowers volume.
Increase GAIN

Adjust all parameters to taste :
ATK increase : more transients level
REL decrease : more pumping effect
Decrease RATIO for a more natural effect.

Extreme settings :
ATK 0
REL 127
THRS 0
RAT 127
GAIN 20 or more
MIX 127

RMS is quite subtle, increase it theoretically for a master mix.

RMS adjusts the way the compressor works. A zero setting makes the compressor look for amplitude peaks and a max setting makes it react to the overall energy level of the signal.

Do a search on OT compressor threads. There are a few good ones that help out with tips. Sorry, I’m mobile at the moment or I would just drop a link for you.

Yes, I too have been able to get some snares that I have been very happy with. This is the best compressor in any sampler I’ve used. It’s fantastic.

I would imagine it’s modelled after a Vca compressor. I’ve been messing with the DT one and I’ve got to say it’s decent. It’s nice with the classic SSL bus settings on 1/3rd dry.

Haven’t got around to resampling individual sounds with it though.
