Hey all,
I’ve just got a quick question about using the Arranger on the Octatrack MKII, specifically the “Jump” function. It seems as though you can only jump forward, and can’t jump backwards. I am just trying to repeat a form but I’m not sure how to make that happen. I’m assuming I will just have to input the whole thing again? Let me know if anyone has any suggestions, thanks!
The arranger is pretty under-rated.
Welcome.
Apparently. As @hrrld pointed out you can use LOOP instead.
Infinite loop, X repeated loops, and JUMP can be also inserted in the LOOP before its end so you should be able to achieve what you want…
Edit : you can jump backwards “manually” selecting a row with arrows and press YES.
Tip if you want to avoid to make a LOOP row for 1 pattern :
LEN(gth) can be combined to REP(eat) so a pattern can be looped during 64x512 = 32768 steps = 2048 bars!
Guess I didn’t read enough. Thanks!
Wasn’t obvious. I thought JUMP could go backwards! So I jumped to OT to check : no luck.
Happy loops!
I still don’t understand why you would need jump? how do you use it?
Jump and Loop can be useful if you want to change songs order in an arrangement for instance.
Also for song parts :
intro/verse/chorus/LOOPx2/outro/HALT
If you want to add a break before outro, making its rows after :
intro/verse/chorus/LOOPx2/JUMP/break/LOOP/outro/HALT
I just wanted to say, that the arranger is the most f… greatest function ever!!! I thought over 2 years like “I don’t need the arranger…” Ha! I do! ^^ sorry for the euphoria.
Right? The video game analogy is like unlocking some late game content you didn’t know about and thinking, “I’ve been playing this game all wrong. I need to start a fresh save file.”
It’s definitely worth learning how it works! It’s incredible!
