Octatrack and Ableton clips limitation

I use Octatreck to start or stop live clips (Midi or Audio) with the trigs in Ableton. But the trig number is limited from 1-8, so i can only start/stop max 8 Clips/MIDIChannel. Does anyone know how to expand this limitation?

Octatrack only has 8 midi tracks.
If you are using them to send midi externally, then 8 channels is all you get.

You could use 1 channel and send note or CC instead, if abelton clips will respond to that. I haven’t used ableton in years so dunno.

I’d just buy a cheap MIDI Controller with lots of buttons.

the cheapest (akai mini 98 bugs) has leadtime of 5 months. And in my environment is space limited. I plan the akai64 (maybe for ableton the best…but i still use octatrackwith midi cc in order to contol the effectracks macros in ableton and or to control the synth parameters of f.e. Diva and Serum. This works nicely having for each channel 6 Knobs…

I’m sure you can assign note number to midi clips in Ableton. Thus having 128 clips per midi channel.
