Octatrack->A4 setup with Studio One

Setup is as follows:

Midi interface out1 1 ->octatrack in/octatrack out->a4inn/a4 thru->midi interface in 1

I am sending clock out from Studio One to OT inn and the OT is sending clock to A4 which is set to receive clock, However the clock from OT is being passed to the midi thru on the A4 and back into Studio One. So my question is how to avoid that from happening? NOT send clock out the midi thru b output on the A4?

Thru ports echo whatever is sent to the in port. Perhaps you can set Studio One to ignore it somehow?, or you have to change the cableing in some way. If you have another din pair on your midi interface you could attach both OT and A4 ins and outs to that, and route your midi from Studio One(which I don’t know how to do), or some other combinations of connections can work but it depends what you want to control from what…

Hey, and thanks for replying.
Like you say i may have to recable or maybe studio one can be set to ignore the midi clock in from the OT (via the A4). I already have the OT clock slaved with studio one as master so i dont need the clock IN from OT, BUT it would be nice to use the midi sequencer on the OT to work with software stuff in studio one. This is why i have connected the midi thru b output. So that i can trigger software in the daw. If it makes any sense.
Maybe it could work if i use the midi out a port instead on the A4 and then have the option to not send midi clock out of the A4? I cant remember at the moment, why i had it connected to the midi b sync output, but i guess ill find out after doing some more testing.

You could connect OT out->interface in, OT in->interface out, OT thru->A4 in. This way you can clock both from Studio one, control OT and A4 from Studio one, and control Studio one from OT. You would have to carefully select channels and midi options on OT and A4 as anything from Studio one would go to both, and you won’t be able to control A4 from OT.
If your interface has more dins and you figure out how to route midi from Studio one, you could send midi to and from any device…
Cheers…

This setup could be an option, the major drawback is that like you say, i wont be able to control/sync A4 from OT. With my current setup i can use the A4 & OT combo like an “external daw” when computer is shut down. Ive only had Studio One for a week now so i need to dig deeper into the midi functions and see if i can filter or ignore some midi incoming messages.
