I just finished developing a first version (understand: alpha) of a tool to edit arrangements for the Octatrack. This was tested with Octatrack OS 1.25H and Google Chrome only! I know Safari on macOS suffers a bit with all the form fields.
Just load an arrangement from your memory card or start with a blank one. When you are happy, download the result and overwrite the file of the arrangement you want to replace.
Auto-saves are only restored if the minor version number is the same as that of the auto-save (see version number next to the OctArranger logo). Example: an auto-save generated with v0.3.2 is gonna be compatible with v0.3.4 or v0.3.9 but not v0.4.1.
This comes with no guarantee of course, and I would strongly suggest making backups before overwriting any file.
The application doesnāt communicate with the server in any way, all the processing is done in your browser, client-side.
Any comments are welcome of course! Doesnāt mean that Iāll make changes accordingly but who knows.
Thanks a lot ! Cool features, Remarks are not possible yet?
Have you thought about a live set planner ? I.e. calculating set length with BPM and repeats?
With planner i mean, that you can make annotations, which show which elements are on the individual tracks, so you get an overview what is going on. (Could also be symbolic i.e. drums, keys, voice.etc.)
Possibly as overlay at the top row of the mutes as drop down field.
Yes, click the āPLAY:ā link to change the type of a line (remark, loop/halt/jump, play)
I could calculate the arrangement length quite easily I guess, yes, thatās a good idea! I also thought about adding some kind of way to make personal notes about what track is what instrument, I still need to see how I can make this usable⦠stay tuned!
Interesting idea, but, whatās the difference of editing on octarranger than the normal editing on the octatrack? I think Iām missing somethingā¦
Thanks!
The size of the screen, mainly (for now). Everyone will agree that itās a pain to edit the mutings, tempo, midi transpose on the octa haha. I plan on adding stuff when I get more time.
I see a lot of possibility here with that tool, especially if you could plan out your set with a few added features. I.e. remarks for the scenes at the side which show what the scene does in a descriptive way. You could change so much with a scene so it would help to track down changes over time.
Scene 1. everything zero
Scene 2. Emphasize PAD, mute Drums etc.
Scene 3. LFO rate increase Drum.
So a few annotations, would help tremendously for planning out your set, and help to keep you consistent.
Not yet but I agree that it would be very practical and I have everything ready to implement it easily! For now you can duplicate a single row and move it around, but soon!
Is there any way this could be made to support the trinity - meaning allowing like a view switcher to toggle between the OT/A4/AR or similar, using a universal timeline for the 3 song modes?
Hey guys! I think it could be time for me to release the code for this. I have absolutely no time to add features but maybe someone does. Iāll make a git repo soon and post it here. Thanks for the kind words
