No drum machine can replace a live drummer at a show. The dynamics and the performance breaths life into the music. There’s a sweet spot where the live acoustic drum sound mixes perfectly with the drum machine. Everything is just bigger.
The two shall coexist
True. Just ask Ultravox or Japan.
Pretty much always used live drummer and bassist
I also love when drummers have various electronic synths/samplers next to their kit and are adding other elements (as a keyboardist) during intros or breakdowns etc.
…That Pro 3 though, I mean daaaammmmn!
Most hip hop shows/performances I’ve seen use live drummers, even if the album is entirely computer/sample based. Watching a live band is so much more enjoyable than someone using programmed music. There is an energy to live performance that is impressive. In my experience playing live instruments with other people, 2 guitar players and a bass guitar is just 3 guys jamming. Throw in a live drummer? Now it’s a band. And that Pro 3 looks dope too!
Roland keeps making V drums so I believe they sell well!
I believe our son is most attracted to playing drums, any instrument we move his way … is turned around and rhythmically hit with his 2 xylophone sticks
Daft thread but it’s an excuse to post this. Going to see him live next week in Manchester…
One of the coolest local bands here in Rotterdam has 2 drummers. Just saying.
even dancefloor-targeted styles benefit a lot if we add live drums/percussion parts.
i learned finger drumming to perform live at the venues/events where having a drum kit is problematic or impossible.
Oh yeah - 50% drummer, and quite the live stadium-sized act as a result.
Just walk by the drum section at NAMM and you’ll want live drummers to be obsolete
just listen to great live drummers !
long live percussionists and drummers !!!
