Oberheim TEO-5

That’d be great, but no desktop Take5 doesn’t give me much hope.

Still watching the Loopop video, but this seems like the only choice I don’t like. Thinking about how I use my other synths, and the Take5 especially, osc volume is usually set-and-forget for me so in practice it’s probably not a big deal.

This thing, as expected, sounds gorgeous. Surprise Superbooth announcements notwithstanding, this just jumped on my wantlist.

TEO! Let’s go!

They’re all wrong. It should be ‘T.E.O.’ As it’s Tom Oberheim’s initials but I can’t see that catching on amongst tubers

I was wondering about the lack of oscillator mixer knobs, but the shortcut seems quick enough for me.

For corroborating evidence, we will have to wait for an interview with one of the company members.

it bothered me in principle about the OB-X8, until I realized that vintage OB’s did the oscillators and noise on/off at full volume thing. and that you can adjust the individual volumes via the menu/panel shortcuts. most importantly: how often do you tweak these settings while playing? probably very seldom, for most people. so it does kinda make sense to save some panel space that way. especially since the T5 has a lot going on in such a small space, control-wise.

Instant, epic, voluminous GAS for this. I need to keep myself in check though.

A small thing, but a new Oberheim with the classic blue pinstripes is working harder on me than I’d like to admit. Nice to see Tom looking well in the promo shot too.

Anybody at Superbooth asking if desktop version planned? Guess that would be quite a cheap super synth in theory

Rubadub claiming it’ll ship within the next two weeks. wonder if this is worth believing…

Yeah, holding the oscillator button and turning the knob is a good/quick shortcut.

Did you mean “keep myself in the checkout aisle”?

LOL. That’s precisely my concern.

I’d have to let something else go to swing this. I only have room for two keyboards and the closet is already full.

Also, this is totally a me thing, but if I’m being real, it’s not going to make my “music” (e.g. glorified loops) any better. I already have way more than I’m able to use to its potential.

I know that I’m going to wind up spending hours tonight watching every single video though. That’s for sure!

I actually don’t need this as I already have an Oberheim in my studio (this sweet drinks coaster)

Look at that analog beauty. I bet a beer would sit nicely on that.

yeah, proper warmth, probably due to it being made entirely from wood unlike the entry-level TEO-5

Probably has a “woody” sound with lots of bark right?
