neither does the OB-X8, on the surface/dedicated controls. you have to go into the page two function (i.e. the menu) to access oscillator levels. this is likely the same.

really hope this has the same flexible mod matrix as the take-5. osc2 as fm source and whatnot

Well, I guess it’s gonna be this kind of spring. Instantly bought the DTII and this will be another. I’ve always wanted a Juno so I went with a Juno X. The only other classic I’ve lusted for is an Oberheim but I never pulled the trigger. Trigger set.

I loved the T5 and I’m more an Oberheim fanboy than Prophet so this is an immediate instant buy for me. Gonna set it right next to my Juno and bask in the virtual 80s of it all. And I love the name is Tom’s initials.

And my Credit Karma score was looking so healthy for a moment there…

Ok the name is a bit meh but who cares right. But did they really needed to do the blue lines? It just makes the whole thing look crowded.

Any woodworkers here? Im going to get this im sure. But the side panels cheapen it a bit. Anybody into making wooden end panels to fit this beauty?

Will it have the same mod matrix as the take 5 ? If not this is pretty useless to me

Wooden side panels are already available for the Take 5. Assuming this uses the same casing, they should probably fit here as well.

Wow. That would be amazing if they did! Thanks.

Cool. Well done them. It’s not for me tho’: I hate Sequential’s little screens, and the buttons around the screen that mean you obscure it with your hand. I’ll save my pennies for one of the bigger 6-series.

in an ideal world, having both a Prophet and Oberheim would be dreamy to use the OB X8 for brass/pads and Prophet for fat basslines and stuff. Add in a drum machine and great to go.

I was at Tony Nik’s the night before this leak was posted here. That’s the bar where they filmed this video. Of course, I can’t go to (or even see) that bar without thinking of this. It’s across the street from the DSI/Sequential office.

I bicycle past that bar nearly every day. And yeah, I think the same thing.

One of these two instruments is enough to fit any needs, you only need to know whether you are after the Prophet or the Oberheim sound. Btw pads and brass sounds on the Prophet are absolutely wonderful. OB seems to be more specialised and shinier in its sound. I believe this extends to the T5 and the new T5.

I understand that some people hear the two synths as similar; after having them next to each other, my personal experience was that they sound noticeably different—the OB-X8 clearer and more detailed, the OB-6 with more low-mids (even without the sub-osc on).

In some ways, the OB-6 (to my ear) sounds as much like a Prophet-6 as an OB-X8, maybe even closer to the P6.

But again, it’s all subjective.

Think this and the Moog Muse would be a stellar combo. Or maybe a bit too much?

Most people haven’t really heard either synth yet, so it might be hard to give an opinion at this time.
