Smart! Hadn’t considered the extra headache of taxes when renting out a property in the US while living in Canada.
How are things going for you so far?

very well / thanks for asking. i’ve been over to the mainland more than i’d like, but all our stuff was moved in dec; still a lot of boxes etc to haul to the dump, but we’re gettin’ there.
now that we’re renting, i’m just itching to sell our house back in the states, and then avoid buying here for several yrs since since our kids are (ideally) outta the house in that amount of time.
i would maybe try and buy anything you can get in the states cheaper now since you’ll pay no taxes on it coming into the country. we’re now just getting our ducks in a row w/ our taxes since my wife will be working stateside (my employment just transferred me to EOR / employment of record and i just get paid via the HR software they use).
best of luck on y’all landing, we’ll need to start having an island meetup for all the van islanders here.
ps hooray for permanent daylight savings!
pretty funny, i needed a new screen for my daughter’s obscure phone / found one on aliexpress. ships to
but not to
.
then, i tried ordering a te sp1 from newrepublic, and shipping to
but not
.
g’times / as for the current weather today, gorgeous.

@Juniper_Steels how’s the immigration process going ?
I’ve got my confirmation of permanent residency. We’re headed up to White Rock the 2nd-5th of July to visit my wife’s cousin. I’ll present my COPR paperwork at the border and about 6 weeks later my permanent resident card should arrive. Pretty excited. I’ll probably head up at the beginning of next year and get an apartment while she stays down here with her sister and finishes getting the house ready to sell.
im gonna miss having you local, but boy am i excited for you.
Happy Canada Day! We’re headed up to White Rock tomorrow to visit my wife’s cousin. When we cross the border, I’ll be submitting my Confirmation of Permanent Residency paperwork. My permanent residency card will be sent not long after.

Heading to a Canadian bar in London and then to the Prince Charles Cinema to see Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie in honour of Canada’s birthday or whatever it is.
Happy Canada Day!!
Perhaps today is the day that Intellijel release the red/white Canadia special edition.
Update: Also:
Canada will join the Eurovision song contest in 2027, becoming the first new participant since Australia in 2015, organisers have announced.
Participation is not limited to countries in geographic Europe and instead is open to all members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which Canada joined last week. Australia is an associate member.
lol hilarious idea
While true, and awesome, we already kind-sorta competed and won by having Celine Dion represent Switzerland in 1988. I dunno… Anyhow, I look forward to sending Nickleback every year from now on. ![]()
That’s awesome! Congratulations!

Thank you! I’ll never forget the sound of the immigration officer’s voice when he said, “Congratulations my friend, you are now a permanent resident of Canada.” He really seemed to share in the joy of the moment.
Congrats! Very jealous of you stuck here in FL. Someday…
Sorry for not responding fast, how did I miss that important moment for you and your family. Congrats Justin! I wish you a great Canadian life.
congrats my now fellow canuck!!!
Thanks everyone! There’s still a long journey ahead to relocate, but the biggest hurdle is behind us. It’s all pretty exciting!
