The programmers manual will help you out here. I’ve scripted mine (LCXL) in Mozaic quite a bit and quite a few times.
They really need to update this device with mk3 esthetics and programming.
Edit: as for the parameter jumping, you can get around that in Mozaic too. You just log the last value of each parameter and tell Mozaic not to send midi until that value is reached or crossed…
Ha ha yeah apologies for that, I was just using it as a comparison, I’m just wondering why the Launchkey is missing key features still, whilst Novation have updated the Launchpads like crazy.
Try changing the 7th byte of a LCXL template. Set it between 00 and 07. Now send it to your LCXL using a sysex program.
It means that the LCXL editor must modify that byte depending on which slot you want to save to.
So, you can use a hex editor/sysex tool, and copy paste several files into one. Just set your sysex program to do a little wait on an F7 (closing byte).
Cant remember how long but you can confuse the LCXL by sending too fast.
Anyway, you now have a single file that you can send to your LCXL that’ll change all 8 user pages at once! Boom!
Pro-tip - if you set your on/off ranges carefully you can set pad colours. For instance, 0-127 will do off and yellow. But 3-124 will do red and green which looks better. Most devices understand less or more than 64 is on and off so it makes no difference except looks better.
Last tip - you can actually achieve this loopback to light the buttons, in a low tech way:
You can use a cheap USB-MIDI converter box, then use 3 TRS-MIDI adapters, a headphone splitter. Just split the MIDI and send it back in. I tried it with an old Hobbytronics USB-MIDI and it works a treat.
Warning: dont split the MIDI more than once! Because of current draw or some other technical mimbo-jumbo!
You can now set separate midi channels for all of the controls in components. You can also set values and choose toggle or momentary behaviour.
I don’t know how long this functionality has been available but I can now set the bottom pads to control delay feedback and reverb decay and the top ones to control each track. Super happy
Is this the firmware update that enables it ? Or is that not relevant to the new functionality
en
EDIT: No matter, I’ve done the firmware update (which was mandatory anyway) and have the new functionality (which goes even further than @immi suggested)
My Launchkey didn’t need an update, @bibenu , but it’s on 1.1.2 and I’m fairly sure these features are new since I last messed with the Launchkey Mini. (Edit: I suspect the change is a new feature of the Components configuration software rather than the keyboard.)
Also, a big-ticket new-to-me item, each pad can be a midi note, CC number or PC (!) message, with configurable momentary and toggle settings
Hmmm since there’s no equivalent of ‘various pages’ on the mini, I wonder what it does ? Also, there appears to be nothing changed (added) on the ‘setup’ mode … so I don’t know how you’d set the ‘global’ value on the mini either.
Yeah it’s now up to FLKey mini capabilities, really great. I just wish, it also had low power mode like Launchcontrol, so it could be powered directly from iPad with lightning connector. I doubt this could be implemented via firmware update, but if it is, I hope they do it - I’ll be buying it in an instant.
