Novation Launch Control XL Mk3

Looks great! I’m excited & hope there’s new Launchpads coming, too

This was posted a few days ago in the other novation thread.

Sorry, I must’ve missed it :frowning:

May be worth a discussion thread on it if there’s enough interest. I mentioned it in the Circuit thread, but just in reference to the potential for new designs to bring Launchpad and Circuits into the new mk4 designs, and it looks like that will include Launch Control.

I’m intrigued by this one. I’ve moved to a setup that is less keys based, since coming from guitar I like to play on pads. Even Push comes with 8 macros for control, so the ability to map either 16 or 24 dedicated encoders to a VST for example, that could be interesting. Will be checking out the specs and integrations when we know more.

Looks vaguely inspired by the intech studio grid controllers, if you were to combine them into one super controller.

Just going by appearances though.

It’s also a pretty generic design to be honest, so maybe I’m seeing things that aren’t there.

I’m really happy that will finally arrive a midi controller that match the knob Shape and panel design of Elektron recents products.
I just wait for the spec and the usability of the screen

Also faderfox.

would look better if you put the elektron knobs on it though.

He mentions NRPN for the endless encoders which makes this potentially really useful considering the BCR32 may or may not ever materialise. That said, I don’t trust anything that Novation say or do until I see what the final unit can actually do, and how awful Components will be for the mapping.

I wonder if there will be a proper manual this time? The LCXL does not, and the ‘quick start’ guide is useless.

Yes, that’s a quick start guide. In the midi section it doesn’t even mention midi merge which is mentioned in the video.

It shows a screen shot of the Components software for assigning CCs, but nothing about what can and can’t be done.

After using a Circuit Tracks and a LCXL, I’ve learned that if Novation doesn’t specifically say something can be done, you can’t assume that you will be able to do it, no matter how intuitive it feels.

Only thing I care to know is when I can buy it already :weary::man_facepalming:t4:

Looks amazing and the price seems fair. Having learned the hard way that the Push 3 isn’t great for live mixing, I might have to get this.

Does anybody know if the LED intensity might change due to its values?
Brighter LEDs higher values, darker LEDs lower values?

This or Roto-Control?

Looks like it’s $220 on pre-order from Sweetwater and $250 on pre-order from Novation and Guitar Center/Musicians friend. Seems pretty reasonable given the tariffs situation.

Components is fine now.

You can copy-paste, select and change multiple controls etc.

It’s been that way for a while, and that’s for the LCXL Mk2. Should be fine for the new one too.

Please tell me it’s not TPU coated. If it is, we know how the story goes: a fingerprint magnet that turns into an irreversible sticky mess after 2 years, just like Push 1 & 2.
