Sorry if this is a re-post, but I couldn’t find anything on it while searching the forums. Every time I program a note on a trig and then turn off that trig and turn it back on the note is lost. Is there a work around for this? I find it to be pretty annoying when all i want to do is have a pre programmed sequence and turn on or off some trigs as a part of my performance but cant do that without losing everything i’ve programmed. God forbid I accidentally bump a trig and lose my sequence in a live setting. Is this a bug for 1.04?
That’s what a trigger is. When you delete the trigger and enter a new one, it won’t have the previous trigs’ settings. Pretty normal behavior for a sequencer
The workaround would be to use either an external midi keyboard and record the note on the spot after deleting a trig. Or use the chromatic keyboard mode in the digitakt itself to record the note back into the sequence.
When you change a note of a trig, you are pattern locking that step. The same as you would lock other settings on a step.
Could you select Sample Slot 0 [empty sample] as a workaround, that way you’d keep the rest of your trig information?
It would be neat to be able to “mute” individual trigs
I have been using copy before turning them off, then pasting them back. It’s ok.
I don’t know that I agree that its standard sequencer behavior. An analog style sequencer functions like this, along with several pieces of gear I have owned before. Either way it seems like a pretty big oversight considering that there already is a way to delete note information by pressing trig+clear, why double down on the ability to clear a note when one could be used for another function? Not to mention it takes away a lot of the functionality of it being patch recall able. You can load it, but mute a note it and its gone. Should be an easy fix, along with per track tempo multiplier!
But when you remove a trig you are not actually muting it. You are deleting it. That’s just the way this sequencer works. You lock settings to a step, including the note. I agree with you that it would be cool to be able to mute individual trigs though.
Come to think of it, you can also use the pattern recall function. Remove some triggs and when you want them back, simply press FUNC+no. It’s probably not enough, but it’s something
. Could use it in combination with copy/paste trig.
Hah, I just found a fix for ya
Make the trig a triggless trig by pressing FUNC+the trig. It won’t play the note, and when you want it back again, simply press that step again (turns red). It will remember all the step settings.
Cheers
Awesome, thanks! That is somewhat confusing when the face labels it as a quick mute, but its really just a trigless trig. Maybe I missed this in the manual? Still not as “safe” as I would like, or as quick of a feature (have to use function key), but its better than nothing.
if you’re not in grid recording mode, Func+trig is indeed quick mute. In grid recording mode pressing func+trig places a trigless trig, that is actually in the manual yes :). You can use quick mute too in grid recording mode by pressing TRK+Func+trig. Also a neat little trick.
The switching between Triggless lock and a normal trig, without losing the step’s settings isn’t in the manual from what I remember. And the quick mute trick in grid recording mode isn’t either I think.
Thanks for the help
Just wanted to say that I have a similar issue with the Analog Keys. It’s quite easy to accidentally press the wrong trig, and erase all its information. I wish there was a way to change the mode, so that muting is the default mode, and erasing required using the Func button or something.
Other option would be to be able to undo the last change.
In any case, thank you @DaveMech for the explanation and the workarounds. I guess I’ll be careful from now on!
