Just hooked the Digitakt to sequence the Nord 3p.
When I press [STOP] + [STOP] it reverts Nord’s kit back to a specific kit.
(Worked with E-2 kit and it always jumps back to A-19).
It seems that kits in the Nord’s kits in bank A are “locked” to the 50 first Digitakt’s patterns in bank A-D.
Didn’t manage to figure out the Digitakt’s bank\pattern to the Nord’s kit bank relationship , or to “save” a different Nord kit to my pattern.
Currently all Nord Channels are triggered by tracks 9-13 in the Digitakt with MIDI channel 1-6.
Fairly new to the Digitakt’s MIDI channels and I didn’t quite get much from other similar threads .
I’m not sure exactly what behaviour you want but …
If you have activated PROG CH SEND in the Digitakt’s SETTINGS > MIDI CONFIG > SYNC menu then it will send a MIDI Program Change message to the ND3P based on the DT’s selected pattern:
Pattern A01: PC 0
Pattern A02: PC 1
…
Pattern B01: PC 16
etc
You could disactivate that setting and instead enter the PROG number of your choice in one of the DT’s MIDI sequencer tracks. Setting values for BANK (probably 0 or 1) and SBNK (probably low values) in the same page will allow you to access different banks on the ND3P.
Let us know whether that is helpful or whether there is something else that you want to achieve.
Thanks! , I see , deactivating the PROG CH SEND setting did stop it from reverting back to the “locked” A-19 kit and it is gracefully keeping up with the kit I’m dialling in the Nord ever when [STOP] + [STOP] is pressed.
However, still haven’t managed to successfully affect the Nord’s kits with the DT the way you suggested.
Tried to assigned track 9 (MIDI channel 1) to Bank 0 or 1 and kept the SBNK at 1 and PROG around 5, but it seems that the Nord ignores it .
Nord MIDI is set to PC Sr.
OK. For now, set both BANK and SBNK to “Off” and we will focus on Program Change messages only.
Look in the Digitakt’s SETTINGS > MIDI CONFIG > CHANNELS menu and see what channel number is set for PROGRAM CH OUT CHANNEL. Then set the Digitakt’s MIDI track that is transmitting to the ND3P to that channel number using CHAN in the SRC page. Set a value for PROG that corresponds to a kit number on the ND3P.
If you set this for a few different patterns, or even turn the PROG knob manually, the kit should change on the ND3P but stay in the same bank.
DT’s PROGRAM CH was set to Auto and the Auto channel was set to channel 10 in the DT.
So I changed the PROGRAM CH OUT CHANNEL to 1 in the SRC but it still didn’t work.
I did suddenly noticed I could send PC to the Nord with DT Channel 10.
I guess the Nord receives PC over global channel , 'cause when I changed the global channel in the Nord from 10 to 1 (GL 1 in the Nord’s MIDI settings) I was able to sent PC to the Nord over DT channel 1.
So now SBNK corresponds with the Nord’s banks and PROG with the kit’s number, so I guess it is working.
