FM is so wild. I consider it to be magic of some sort.
Wow! What an Instrument! Matt Johnson is a perfect fit for this Instrument, what a great Performer! I’m speechless.
They clearly put a ton of thought and care into the presets for this. I want to get one just to deconstruct all of them! Not $4k want, but want all the same.
Lovely sounding indeed but pricey! It’s actually about $5160 USD if you’re in the US after you account for the required flight case, shipping, and exchange rates!
I wouldn’t know what to do with a $5k beautiful thing like this
but for those who are intrigued with the sound engine:
https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/synths/kontour/
it’s built on Kontour (Native Instruments, designed by NI founder Stephan Schmitt who is the creator of the C15)
so Kontour has a lot, if not all, of the same functionality (phase modulation, sine wave goodness, comb filter, cab sim, etc)
It’s just, in my opinion, probably not as fun to play and program since it’s just software, but hey it’s significantly cheaper
So…what you’re saying is…by making a track with just 4 instances of Kontour…I can have a track that sounds like 20,000 dollars?
Interesting…
Very interesting…
Nice! They’re pretty forthcoming with the C15 engine details here, but I haven’t ever used Kontour so it all looked pretty novel to me. Im excited to leaern of its soft-synth origins. It’d be an insta-buy, but Reaktor
Though I’d already been looking at Prism (another Schmitt creation, right?) Maybe I should just bite the bullet.
Yes, but then Matt could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves, what with the way he plays… It’s almost as if it’s the player, not the instrument.
Cheers!
I agree but also, the funky Sounds and the Modulations generated by this Instrument made him play differently for each sound. He seems very impressed and excited about it. You just can’t deny that he’s a real skilled professional musician.
