Just got a tonverk. I’ve had it for about two weeks now I’m very familiar with electron boxes. I have four of them. I can’t get any sound to come out of this thing just all of a sudden it stopped working nothing out of the headphones or any of the outputs. Yes, I tried different cables. Anybody else have any issue like this? I did update the operating system twice and that didn’t work either.
Does that happen on a blank project? All other components involved are known to work? Then I‘d contact support if I were you.
Check the audio routing in the settings menu for whatever is the equivalent of the digi “route to main” setting for this device. After you’ve confirmed that all tracks are routed to the main outs, try using it as a class compliant audio device and test sending USB audio to your computer or mobile device and confirm whether there is any audio output over USB.
If you aren’t getting any output there either, enter test mode by powering the device on while holding down the func key and then run the error test and check for any results, then contact Elektron support or the retailer and relay all of this information because if it isn’t user error then something is happening which is outside the scope of other users ability to help you and if it’s hardware related, may require physical exchange.
Good luck
Blast…I think I’m now running the same problem, for uknown reason the Tonwerk has stopped to send output on mains and Headphones, only USB
Please provide the OS tag, and if it is reproduced on a brand new project.
What have you tried, what information can you share?
And have you reached Elektron support?
Happened on OS 1.1.0 - UI FW 32 but the new FW 1.2.0 is not changing the situation, no sound from the outputs only USB, this is very annoying especially under festive season as I presume I will be stuck until next year… no good.
Writing to the support now
EDIT: Looks like that the USB 1 is triggering the MUTE state on the main output as If I now turn ON the Tonwerk only using the Power Supply ( so without connecting the USB 1 ) works on the Output… Also tested on my Macbook M1 where both audio and midi actually works EXCEPT if I take the Power Supply USB 2 out, then the tonwerk turns ON but No sounds again… so problems with USB 1 I guess
a mess
Do you have any computer plugged, or MIDI enabled device that could send a MIDI CC?
I have a macbook I can plug, but I don’t think the Tonwerk has any problems but probably very susceptible…being a new platform …I can’t say, would be interesting to know how the user fortnumsound here sort it out
No, I meant do you have any incoming signal that could be the culprit?
Is MIDI for USB accepted?
My TV is plugged to my computer and I thus use MIDI in/out, and I’ve never noticed this yet.
No actually the Midi seems working fine both sending and receiving, I think the culprit was / is one of my USB port on my PC , I can only wild guess now because like I stated already the Tonwerk sound came back without plugging the USB 1 to my pc, maybe some USB sleep or god knows but at the time of writing I did connect the USB 1 to a front USB 3.0 port and is working fine… I’m puzzled really
I received confirmation by the Support @ Elektron that Tonwerk does not always receive enough power in order to swtich ON both engines in his hardware ( and so NO SOUND ) and they are looking to provide a low-power mode in the future, it has been mentioned the plugging of a USB from laptop but I presume that in my case a mix of USB power sleep triggered the MUTE state or something… at least now we know what may cause this problem.
I’m joining the group here.
I just received a new Tonverk a few days ago and straight away installed the new OS 1.2.0. It worked well for a few hours but now all the analog outputs (headphones, A/B & C/D) are producing extremely weak sound with high distortion (it sounds almost like a rectifier effect). The issue is persistent through all projects and patterns. No fx are in use, and all routing has been checked to be OK.
Just submitted a ticket…
computers dont give enough power to work, often times low quality wall warts as well
Just a comment here, in my case, I’m using only the provided PSU provided with Tonverk, nothing else. No USB connected to PC or anything else. I sometimes can get the unit back to “normal” sound quality but then the sound is soon degraded over 1-2 minutes (volume decreasing significantly, extreme distortion audible at higher output levels). It almost sounds like there is some automatic noise floor / thresholding function that is messing things up in Tonverk…
My case was that the Tonwerk was connected since day one both USB were to test file transfer and AUDIO through USB but then something happened like I wrote, now I know what happened ( more or less )
Looks like this issue persists. I’ve had my Tonverk for a few days and found no audio being output this morning. Rebooting it several times resulted in getting the audio back . Guess that I’ll try only plugging in the power into USB 2? Is that the definitive solution here?
