Hello fellow Elektronauts,
I am a fairly new Syntakt owner and am having trouble recording separate tracks using overbridge on Ableton 10. I’ve got my Syntakt set to overbridge mode and I also tried taking all tracks out of the main out as I saw someone doing this on YouTube (not sure its necessary as other vids didn’t) Im getting sound on the overbridge midi track but no audio in any seperate tracks. Any help would be greatly appreciated been driving me mad for two nights now😅
Make sure you have Audio tracks not MIDI tracks open. You’ll have one MIDI track for the Syntakt Overbridge VST but then you’ll want Audio tracks in ableton for the rest. Where you select which channel the audio track is receiving audio from you should find Syntakt in the list. And that menu there will be another drop down menu that probably says Post FX by default, you click that and you should be able to select one of the 12 tracks from the Syntakt.
This video also explains it if you’re more of a visual learner. Dont worry that he’s talking about Digitone and Digitakt, it’s all the same thing.
Hi there thanks for your reply, I have used audio tracks to receive the seperate syntakt tracks and selected the relevant tracks in the drop down menu. The pre and post options are showing levels but there aren’t any for the individual tracks. I did watch that video and a few others following all the relatively simple steps yet I’m still not getting anything. Im stumped
So Ive just set up the syntakt as my audio device on Ableton instead of my motu m4 and swiched on all inputs in the input config. I can now get seperated tracks by using ext.in but still no audio from the actual syntakt tracks.
Its a work around i guess but would still like to get the actual overbridge tracks working so i can use my motu soundcard too for the extra inputs/outputs
Confused!
Latency is all over the place using that work around so back to square one!
Can you check the audio routing in the settings? The tracks should all be enabled.
Maybe loading a new project might also do the trick as all settings should be back to default.
If your Syntakt is correctly recognized by Overbridge it should work like explained above… weird.
Create a Midi track > add the Syntakt VST or AU to it. Name it Syntakt Master.
Create 14 audio tracks. Set the source as Syntakt Master > Choose track-1-Syntakt for the first track, and so on up to 12, then set FX and DL Reverb for the last two.
Set monitor to In.
Group them all > they should now all route the group channel.
send the group output to Master, or another bus (it’s part of another group - drum bus in my screenshot in my case)
On the Syntakt go to Settings > Audio Routing > To Main > Turn off all green LEDs by pressing the keys/buttons. This stops the audio routing to the main output which will play of the Syntakt Master track, so you’d be doubling the audio if you don’t turn these off.
There’s a bug on the Syntakt that it doesn’t remember these settings after a reboot. It does on the DT and DN.
The individual outs will sound a lot quieter than the main out. This is normal. They’re lower so that the group track isn’t too hot when you sum them all.
Thank you so much for your help, I updated my Syntakt to O.S 1.2A then tried following your instructions exactly and still no sound. Think its time to contact Elektron support😔
You might need to change the USB mode. SETTINGS > SYSTEM > USB CONFIG - make sure it’s set to Overbridge
Yes it is set to overbridge. Im getting a stereo mix from the main output but no individual tracks thats what perplexing me so much
Did you load a fresh new project?
Can you post a screenshot of Live so we can see your setup/routing?
