I failed again. Bought a new Moog Subharmonicon at an auction at such low price that I could not resist the temptation. Not proud but at least I am looking forward to learn this new synth and all its quirks.
As I changed gear (now I’m just down with a DT2 and a Minilogue XD) I failed once more on NGNY this year.
Still in the “less is more” phase, so I’ll jump over to the Downsizing Your Hardware 2024 thread.

Aaaand I’m out.
I did technically make it longer than last year, but not by much.
Seems like the longest I can hold off without a piece of new gear is 6-8months lol
I guess I get taken off? I have been purchase free for almost 4 years. [year 4 ends March 18 2025]
I got peripherals. +drive and MCL.
I had too. Been looking for them for a dogs age. Couldn’t afford them when they were available. Socked money away skipping lunches to get one. Then when I had money set aside…production had shut down. They guys at Machinestore started making them. But I had become comfortable holding that MCL money. But when I saw they were on their last ones [at the time] I decided to go forward.

seriously, waiting for something for years and it’s only expansion to existing gear does not count as new gear imo.

Only 3 months left hang in there! Hold the line.
Unwilling participant ( backer of a failing Kickstarter project ) so well over a year now with no new gear – and it’s not so bad !

Had a good run but I should confess I’ve totally bombed at the end of the year. Held strong until September and then got a little bit bored and jaded with the small setup I was running. Sold a few bits and bought a few bits to freshen it up.

So far only 2 months left and no gear for me! I think that I can make it 2 years in a row. Home ownership and car repairs made it simple.

I’ve not done terrible. Bought a DT2, but returned after not using it. The Move and DN2 almost got me, but it honestly stresses me out thinking about learning a new piece of hardware. I’m trying to finish an album by the end of the year, and I’m already getting derailed by the existing gear I don’t use enough.

No new gear and still holding. I’m not sure if iPad apps count here. But there was no way I was sleeping on the Waldorf Microwave1.
