No banks remaining prg ch Octa

How should I go about when syncing A4 to Octa with program change and my banks in A4 are used up?

Can I somehow sync A4 with Octa after loading a new project?

Program Change messages sent from the Octatrack select a pattern in the current project on the Analog Four.

If you need to have the OT select patterns on the AF without changing project then you will have to move the patterns (and associated kits) to be in the same project on the AF.

Yes I understand your first point. It’s what I have been doing

My problem is I have used all banks in A4 (A-H) but I still have Bank I to P remaining in Octatrack. What I want to do is change project in A4 and continue to make music in Bank I to P in Octa and have A4 in sync to octa. Playing bank I-P with octa program changing A4 will make A4 play bank A -H.

The problem is when changing project in A4. The playback stops and there is no way I know of to have them play in sync unless I stop playback of the Octa. Not very nice when playing live.

… that’s why I wrote that “you will have to move the patterns (and associated kits) to be in the same project on the AF”.

You don’t understand me…

I will say it again

I want to have a clean project to mess around with! I’m all out of banks in A4 Want more banks in A4 really. But that is too much to ask it seems

I do understand what you’re saying, and I am very sympathetic to the difficulty that you are experiencing. I regret to be the one to inform you that what you are asking for from the machines is not possible, which is why I suggested the workaround of moving your patterns and kits between projects.
I hope that you find some workable arrangement.

haha, what a kind way to put it! Had my doubts. The answer was in the back of my mind so I’m not suprised.

I might be super daft today (I AM!..) becouse I still cant see how your workaround would solve anything in my case

Don’t bother… but please do!

Let’s look more closely at your case.

The problem you have found is that you want to have access to more than 128 patterns from the AF without stopping playback. Is this because, for example, you have a live set that uses more than 128 patterns on the AF?

If it is, then you will have to rethink the way you use your patterns on the AF, because (as we know) the AF only has 128 patterns in a project and changing project stops sync.

If you do not need more than 128 patterns without stopping playback, then you might consider copying those patterns that you need into a new project. The relevant patterns in the OT could trigger the patterns on the AF; if appropriate, you could use the MultiMap feature on the AF to ensure that the correct patterns are launched.

I’m sure that we can find a workaround for your situation, if we understand a little more what you would like to achieve.
