Oh wow, good find! What an incredible offer, saving you over 1.000€! I think it’s definitely worth that money. If you’ve been thinking about getting this for a long time, might do it now.

Every time I GAS for an analog synth, I just fire up my Nina and am reminded that I don’t need anything else. And that it solves all of the issues I’d be annoyed on that other synth now that I’m used to Nina. It’s definitely the best UI of any hands on synth imo. Obviously the motors do a lot of that, but also simple things like it just opening the sub menu for the section you’re in when you’re moving a knob. Not that you need a menu often, most stuff is directly on the knobs. But if you need it, you’re there immediately and intuitively. Same for the way you setup modulation etc. And look at all of these inputs and outpus! So easy to play it via USB from other gear for example. The knobs also mean that you can actually make use of the four layers without being confused what the hell is going on on that patch and values jumping.

It’s so impressive they really knocked it out of the park with their first synth. And they keep updating it with things like an Elektron sequencer. Also great customer service. If any company deserves that much money, it’s Melbourne!

The sound is also beefy and great. The only thing holding it back a bit for me personally is the filter. Dont like the resonance that much and not a fan of the bass loss, though you can compensate with drive (and people love their Moogs despite it). And it can sound a bit harsh on higher frequencies.

Also not at schneidersladen.de, which used to be the exclusive seller for Melbourne gear in Germany. Please buy from them if they offer the discount, they’re great people and like Melbourne deserve to get your money more than anyone. Especially if the price is the same as on other places!

It’s definitely on at Perfect Circuit, but it looks like European stores haven’t yet started the sale.

There’s a Delia with 46% off at Moog Audio. Crazy price.

This is absolutely crazy! I really hope Melbourne are doing well and are discounting to get more people to buy these fantastic instruments and talk about them.

hi everyone! question: if i recall correctly, when turning the morph knob to go from layer A to B, all the other knobs also gradually move to the ‘B’ position during the process.

for some reason (maybe firmware 2.1?) this doesnt happen anymore on my unit.
pressing the layer button does inmediately make all the knobs move to the B position, so its not the motorized knobs themselves that are broken (luckily).

Do you recognize this behaviour? am i crazy? is it a setting? thanks in advance!

EDIT: I fixed it. apparently it was the 'store to B" function in the morph settings.

also, in the system settings: there’s a ’ store demo mode on/off’ setting. what is this for?

This is the demo mode for when the unit is displayed in a store. Knobs turning etc. I leave it turned off.

I’m wondering if Melbourne Instruments is ok or has something cooking. There’s now 32% off on the NINA.

they had quite high discounts during black friday too

They also have ( had ? ) the DELIA on sale. My observation on that :

Could also be they have gotten to a significant cost efficiency with the motorized control, which changes their price calculation.

NAMM is soon so perhaps we’ll hear then.

ADDED : And Buchla & Friends Jan 24-25

You also may have been on a patch with nothing loaded on B…

Tinkering with sending some LFO to CC43 (morph)…fun

New firmware update 3.0 with Braids engine!

Nice! I’ve been feeling the itch to get mine out of the closet again. I personally don’t need or want any more updates from them as it can already do everything that I want and more. But I’m really happy to see they keep adding things that will be a huge deal for others and possible reasons to justify a purchase. It also feels reassuring because that means they’re probably doing alright and are invested in Nina’s future. I was a bit concerned after those massive discounts last year, and with all of their motor tech being proprietary, you don’t want them to go out of business.

Extremely psyched on this inclusion of Braids.

Something about Braids is magic (… And I really do not enjoy the sound of Plaits). I think my ears require a taste of that digital bit-crushy thing that I can’t define. The blofeld has it too.

Possibly ridiculous wanting this since the move Schwung firmware also features the braids implementation. the Nina is now like a boutique 303 clone for braids. Kind of want it just to have that $3,000 braids hardware experience

The best part is that Braids engine type can be modulated! :metal: I did’t try to parameter-lock it yet in multi-timbral sequencer.
