I nabbed a POM16 just before Xmas it was 59, quite good features but build is flimsy, when you press on the keys if flexes a couple of mm, making it a bit imprecise to use because it is a resistive keyboard. I will at some point add a small frame or something internally to stop the flexing, hopefully that will improve things.
designwise they should’ve placed the battery clips on the bottom and cut 3 holes underneath the flex-film to secure the upper half to the bottom (avoiding that little gap).
that should be an easy hack because the threaded nuts are attached and in place, but the mod can only be applied when the flex film isn’t attached at all, basically beforehand.
connected to the po-400 power board its a nice quantizer/scale/Arp/seq and feels like some 80s control keys / companion.
Oh man, I have a lot to say about this kind of stuff.
I’m generally on the skeptical / doomsdayer side with technology, currently.
The more trust we put into a single portal of information/interaction, the more of our world view can be intentionally influenced by bad actors.
I hope there are a legion of “AI agent issues” specialized whistleblower journalists who are keeping tabs on how these devices are influencing personal behavior toward the wishes of centralized power loci.
I did some investigation… I think the next TE product will be a successor to the OPZ. Here’s evidence: ZM-4 module is out of stock (Thomann and TE store):
I hope you’re not a cop, because that’s some poor evidence
It might be reason for speculation, sure, but I wouldn’t call it evidence.
It’s like finding a dead body with a knife wound and blaming it on the first person you see holding a knife. It might be a new op-z, it might be another EP-sized instrument, it might be something entirely different.
Also, the pocket operators have been “discontinued” for a while, only for the production resume without any new pocket operators in the line.
You never know… A couple of months ago, in the about-text in their job openings it said “The new OP-Z” (didn’t take any screenshots though).
And in this video from superbooth 2023, Jesper (their head of design) confirms it https://youtu.be/Jt2k7rvRbww?si=138iFpdZTwpkVzCv&t=1300
Hm… That’s what I supposed. But in the video I posted a person asks if there will be an op-z field, and after a lot of mumbelling, Jesper answers: “The short answer is: Yes!”.
i basically cruise youtube comments, instagram accounts and comments, reddit threads, facebook comments, forums (elektronauts, lines, op-forums, discords, etc.) daily. i’ve seen several mentions now, especially around superbooth 24 speculations about TE appearing there this year, where its not only mentioned that there will be a z field, but that the estimated time of arrival is 2025. i did not save any of those links and don’t have the energy to look them up right now as i mostly just look around to keep myself informed. i’m a pretty good judge of speculation vs. enough critical mass plus specific comments to feel that this is credible information. i have personal first hand confirmation on the product but not the timeline, but i cannot pass on my source publicly for that. i believe one person said TE support was a source for them in regards to the 2025 date… and yes, jesper personally confirmed publicly at superbooth 2023 they are going to make a z field.
Thanks for your answer. The expected release date of 2025 was the bit that sparked my interest, as I haven’t read such a concrete statement regarding a new op-z before.
