Man, this thread is lit. Simple question I already asked in another way 600 posts back:
Does anyone know how the standalone handles long samples? Can I just record a 2 hour session with it? Or does a lack of arrangement view prevent that?

So much hype around it… It’s almost same controller as push2. Only with Mpe functionality… standalone function on this thing is so limited… doesn’t support vst… And it’s become bigger. they didn’t change display…it’s not touch screen…the only useful thing is new jog weel …🤷
I’ve watched the Stimming video and while there’s no definitive answer I remember, I know that you can have audio track set to resampling and assuming you have the space you can probably just record everything into audio clip, you can then move it to simpler/sampler for slicing etc.
Once you stop thinking of this as a daw controller and simply put it next to the likes of octatrack, mpc live, deluge etc….
It makes much much more sense.
Useful infos/specs neded regarding the usage of a power bank to run Push 3:
Push 3 can be powered using a USB power bank. Use a PowerDelivery(PD)-capable power bank that can supply 20V/3A.

What is useful will depend on the user…MPE is a big thing for many, as is the Audio Interface with ADAT…for me even the CV out and midi out is a big deal…as is the fact that the ‘controller’ can be upgraded to ‘stand alone’ later. All of that adds up to a big deal for me personally.
Cheers. That is the million dollar question for me. Been eyeing a Blackbox before, but pairing my modular with the Push 3 fx and all that (to be developed) m4l-stuff, sounds very tempting.
for that price I’d wait for more videos confirming the recording capabilities, but you can see how he does it in the video (I’ve stamped with time), and from my experience with Live there’s no limitation on recording length
It’s the ultimate mdlr companion imo
More interesting infos about the battery:
Push 3 (standalone) battery remains in “Transportation Mode” during shipping. To activate the battery before turning Push on, connect the power supply.
Note: The battery may switch back to “Transportation Mode” when the device is not used for several weeks.

It is also recommended to keep charging level from 80%-100% and also to stay above 50%
before removing the power supply when charging:
** The battery should not be left completely depleted, as this may affect battery life. 80% to 100% charge is recommended when not in use.*
** Once fully charged, the battery must be discharged to below 95% before charging will be re-enabled.*
** The battery will take 4.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%.*
** A fully-charged Push battery can be expected to last about 2 hours when using Push away from a power source.*
** To prevent Push from shutting down unexpectedly when running on battery power, charge to at least 50% before removing the power supply.*

Yeah, that was my absolute first hunch too. Especially since I’ve been using Ableton since 2010, so there would be a very small learning curve.
But at the same time I’m thinking: let’s not jump on this bandwagon too soon and see how the early adopters feel in a couple of months, esp. regarding the price.
Don’t take this as knowledge but it would be incredibly odd not to have the functionality you’re after considering how standalone is being billed/marketed. Just me but I’m like 99% certain it will be able to do huge long recordings but sure we’ll find out soon enough!
If it records into clips like Live does in Session view then the recording time is only limited by your available HDD space.
as long as Live is capable of recording unlimited-length clips, you’ve got the same “huge recording” on P3. i’m not even sure why the doubts
Totally agree.
Yesterday night after all the buzz in my head about the release and all the features and whatnot I had a moment of claritry and I suddenly started seeing it as the multitrack recorder I always wanted (but ofc it is and will do so much more).
I will use it that way with all my other grooveboxes/ gear and will explore step by step what it can do for me in my existing setup. Nothing has to go for now, it will add so much without the need to turn on a computer.
Glorious times to be alive as an enthusiast of electronic music instruments.
Sequencer, recorder, modulation source, and with bored brain opts you’ll never need anything more
Like honestly.
My mantis case, optx, mb air and push3 is so staight to the point. No dongles, no extra cables and super flexible
Yeah, just route all audio to an audio clip and record a clip of your jam/live set
It’s the elektron mixer we’ve been waiting for
Oh, I have no previous experience with the push, so I was wondering if it would work the same way as in Ableton.
Feel a bit insane but have just ordered this
