Ritchie is amazing. I have mad respect for him. I first heard his tapes as Plastikman and don’t really feel this Prada outing is in bad taste or worthless. I’m just glad that he’s still alive and crafting work that he sees fit.
I have to say that he literally pushed music technology further:
In 2005, I witnessed him trainwrecking and sounding like boots in the dryer or runaway horses when he was touring Closer at Fabric. He had Ricardo as his guest warm-up and Craig Richards as the resident opener. Stanton’s Traktor Final Scratch (predecessor to today’s NI Traktor Pro) was an unstable version of DVS technology and people don’t give him enough credit for what he did considering it was super unstable at the time.
He should have a Masterclass.
