New Plastikman track ‘Sin Thetik’

Not sure if anyone saw this, I missed it, new track to accompany the latest Prada show, it’s a great track

I enjoyed this, even though I am not a fashionista. Great production design, really like how they used the cameras and leaned in to using the appearance of the cameras as part of the stage.

The music is very 2020. Dark, dystopian, slow yet relentless.

I don t agree. I find the set quite bland and poorly lit, although the apparent intention could have been worked out way better.

Musically i think people like Kangding Ray master this “ Dark, dystopian, slow yet relentless.“ style way better.

I love plastikman / Hawtin, but I hate the world of fashion / “high fashion” so this troubles me. However, new music is new music, so I should appreciate that. Thanks for the heads up.

I listened to the latest Kanding Ray album and wasn’t that impressed, but I am with this new plastikman.

I’ve been really disappointed with stuff like new autechre etc but was pleasantly surprised with this, can’t wait for the new album

Sorry. I was totally waiting for Borat or Bruno to come out of no where and make this cool.

Clearly I’m more on the South Park, Dickies and a hoodie kind of vibe

Plastikman is dope though

Nice sounds, i can even hear some fuse vibes. Who would have thought that I have to wait 26 years to hear something i like from this man when i listened dimension intrusion and sheet 1 nonstop. But i didnt follow closely.
Time is passing…
And fashion is an interesting phenomena. well, everything is interesting

Bad haircuts , clothing that they need to hold to stop it falling on the floor , long dreary conversation to try and justify stupid prices.

And I wish the models were not so glum though they’re having to walk funny and pretend it’s all worth while.

Music was ok though I prefer his early warp fuse work to endless repetitive 909 that has earnt him $$$$ and fame.

Yeah for once an artist I like doesn’t disappoint, here’s hoping the album is good

I think a lot of people who viewed the video were there for the music rather than the show looking at the YouTube comments

Fashion is such a wank. Lol

Looks like spec shots for the forthcoming Star Trek movie to me

However: I can never forget what Hawtin did to Detroit Techno.

Great producer, but the cultural appropiation weighs heavy on his shoulders:

The height for me…

New shit sounds cool tho. Much better than the two that preceded this latest. They were…”off” (in my opin)

I listen to this vinyl at least once a month since its release, so masterful.

Ritchie is amazing. I have mad respect for him. I first heard his tapes as Plastikman and don’t really feel this Prada outing is in bad taste or worthless. I’m just glad that he’s still alive and crafting work that he sees fit.

I have to say that he literally pushed music technology further:

In 2005, I witnessed him trainwrecking and sounding like boots in the dryer or runaway horses when he was touring Closer at Fabric. He had Ricardo as his guest warm-up and Craig Richards as the resident opener. Stanton’s Traktor Final Scratch (predecessor to today’s NI Traktor Pro) was an unstable version of DVS technology and people don’t give him enough credit for what he did considering it was super unstable at the time.

He should have a Masterclass.

Shame everyone looks so pointlessly moody/hangry. Still it’s better than fashion’s trend a few years ago for making all the models look like they were dead. With this one, I just stopped watching and concentrated on the music, which is cool but forgettable.

Maybe one day models will actually look like regular people who inspire us to be happy about ourselves. Until then, they have to look angry because everyone views them as ‘not real people’.

Haha, they just look like they need a biscuit (cookie for our American users).

Had no interest for electronic music years ago.
Then I started getting an interest in the mid 90s.
As a trained musician, and furthermore as a drummer, electronic music sounded like the end of my era :joy:
Things have changed
The man is pushing boundaries in the genre. Although mainstream (overall in terms of marketing and communication), I have always been fascinated by the way he crafts his art.
Again as a musician, I have rarely seen a DJ work that hard on the decks.
One if my favourite artists in the genre.

He is so good at taking what essentially is a live jam and turning it into a great piece of music.

Also he generally only uses two or three sounds with drums and effects and it’s so minimal and sometimes sounds so simple. But he focuses on those elements in minute detail. Its never cluttered. It’s something I’m always trying to do with my own music, less is more.
