New (first) album release - “Purpura”

I did a thing and published my first actual album on Bandcamp:

This is a collection of tracks that some of you might have heard sketches of on this forum.

Almost all of them started out on hardware, including Elektron Analog Four (“Acid Bound Tail”), Torso S4 (“Ring Load Fail”), Monome Norns (“prayfail”), Nord Modular G2 (“2HRFTrx”), and Waldorf Iridium.

Most of these tracks started out as jam sessions with a single piece of equipment, and were then edited to one degree or another; some almost not at all except for mixing and others very heavily.

I’d be happy to hear your thoughts or feedback on this release, particularly the mixing. Thanks for listening!

Went straight to 2HRFTrx because G2, but the whole album is great from the first listen.

Thanks for the listen and for the kind words. I really like your work so I really appreciate the positive feedback.

That track in particular is one of the oldest and most heavily processed, but outside of a pad layer to reinforce the melodic content towards the end of the song, most of those sounds started out on the G2.

I was just able to get the editor running on my M2 Mac so I’m really looking forward to incorporating it into new material

Gilmour was singing in my head for some reason.
My subconscious figured before me where “Bruise The Air” was from.

Oh, and all I can say about the mixing is that it is really good by my standards (or at least way better than mine) cause I can hear every detail
And I have to underline that it has resisted to the test of several devices including a crappy Shokz OpenSwim (sounded ok enough, unlike my own tracks) and office PC speakers!

High level of sound design, not my usual style of music i listen too but i acknowledge the quality when i hear it

PS: as a child I had a purpura - which is a kind of loecuemia - not sure to get the original why you chose it as an album name but it somehow fits.

Trust me, it’s not my wife’s cup of tea either and she’s heard it plenty haha. But in all seriousness, thank you for listening, stylistic preferences aside, and for the kind words.

As for the title, some tracks had very natural titles, while others required some research. I went down a couple of different avenues, including hex codes, math formulas, astronomy, a few others.

I never thought much about the “bruise” part of my moniker, but I looked that up (with safe search on…) and it came up. After reading a bit about it, it just sort of seemed to fit what I was doing in a not so obvious way.

It sounds like it isn’t an issue for you anymore, which I’m glad to hear, but I realize it causes major issues for some. I hope you don’t feel I’m making light of it, or diminishing its seriousness but it was mainly an artistic decision.

Sure no issue with me, it just sounds a bit like calling an album spondylarthritis

Purpura is a deadly disease but once you get over it, you’re good to go.
I know what the search for a good name is, purpura can essentially refer to the purple colour
