Neuzeit Instruments Drop

Thank you for sharing that, I had given up on trying some NRPN messages I could never get working, specifically the euclidian sequencer on/off control for Digitakt/tone, which is sadly buried in menus, yet such a powerful performance feature.

Thanks to @joris.roling dialing up controls not usually accessible via continuous controllers is very convenient on the drop and might I add, fast. With the glitches I have been experiencing, I have been defaulting to CC’s but the presets with NRPN come in clutch sometimes. Here’s an example: I wanted to use GRAINER for some chord drone work and have fun with that new filter. What’s missing? A filter envelope. The mod envelope works, and I want control over the depth. CC#110 should work, but - and maybe I’m being a midiot here, but I couldn’t get it to work. Just assign it in the MACROsection you say? It’s not assignable there. So with the presets installed on the microSD card and linked to the Tonverk via MENU>DEVICES>PRESET FILE:Tonverk.csv, we’re free to assign this crafted filter envelope for GRAINER. Happy Days. Thanks again @joris.roling for contributing to the database over here.

I just checked, and I came to the conclusion you’re no midiot, indeed this parameter (ā€œAudio Track: Mod → Mod Env: Depthā€ CC#110) seems to have no impact at all. Also the NRPN version of it does nothing. While (ā€œAudio Track: Filter → Filter: Frequencyā€ CC#74) works fine. I have filed a support ticket @ Elektron about this. Will keep you posted.

The Tonverk parameters in the midi.guide database are based on the Elektron Tonverk docs, and I also reviewed the possible changes after the v1.1.0 update).

It seems that, once again, Tonverk’s brain is a bit behind its specs. :face_with_monocle:

Edit: I filed the follwing ticket @ Elektron:

Hi Elektron,

My Tonverk (v1.1.0) does not respond to ā€œAudio Track: Mod → Mod Env: Depthā€ CC#110 changes. Also the NRPN (msb 0, lsb 24) do nothing.

It DOES respond to ā€œAudio Track: Filter → Filter: Frequencyā€ CC#74

Could you please help?

Cheers,
Joris

And got the following response:

Hi,

Thank you for reporting this!
We are aware of these bugs in the midi implementation, and there is a fix in an upcoming OS update for the Tonverk.

Best regards,
Viktor - Elektron Support Team

Thank you kindly. The NRPN preset seems to work for Mod Env Depth, but might not seem to work if the Drop’s maximum is hanging onto the 127 value.

Speaking of hanging. I have.recently bought a Keystep 37. When it’s running through the Drop I get hanging notes in my gear when I use it where that doesn’t happen if connected directly. Thoughts??

same question.

Is anyone out there successfully throwing the Drop between their Oct One MK2 and Octatrack. I’d love to hear how you got things configured. I’m at a standstill trying my damnest to simply play and record OT slices chromatically via the Oxi One. I’m unable even when I take the Drop out of the equation. Feeling dumb and tired and frustrated.

Anyone else waiting for the Drop to come back in stock and pick one up? Thomann are saying 2-3 weeks but that’s been the lead time (or longer) since early December… everywhere else just has out of stock messages. I do hope we’re not looking at Cirklon-like levels of unobtainium because the Drop looks pretty damn amazing…

Drop will be in stock soon in early february

From Thomas in Neuzeit drop Modwiggler forum last week : ā€œWe have already shipped some devices this month and are currently producing/testing/packaging many more. In the next few days, around 4–5 pallets of Drops will leave our office.
I know that many of you have had to wait a long time, for which I am really sorry, and extremely grateful at the same time for your trust and patience. We are almost there!ā€

That’s good news. :+1:

Absolutely !

For those who already got theirs: does the Drop come with an SD card in the box or do I have to bring my own?

Thomann now says it will be available in 4-5 weeks. I hope that doesn’t apply to Drops that were pre-ordered a month ago and that the arriving units are already sold out.

The manual only mention a micro sd card adaptor to regular sized sd card in the ā€œwhat’s in the box chapterā€.

The others dealers maintain an early February date
We’ll see :content:

Hence my question.

My bad

Indeed, and only last week Thomann were saying 2-3 weeks. So the restocking date seems to have moved backwards which is frustrating.

Very frustating if it’s the case. I order mine on 10th january and thomann tell me i’ll receive it mid february.

There was one in mine, loaded with original firmware.
I reckon you need the sd card for the Drop to boot and save/load presets.
