Bumping this thread - anyone here have any experience with these?
I’m currently using a Tascam Model 16 to record my synths and jams and am in the market for a smaller, more portable, and higher quality interface with good preamps/converters.
I’m eyeing either this or the RME UCX II, which has wayyyy more features for a comparable price. Actually due to an employee discount I could get the MT48 for around 900€, so the RME would be a few hundred € more than that, even used they’re around 1100€+…
The reviews of the MT-48 say the converters sound amazing, best recordings ever, insane clarity, a step above RME, yadda yadda. So - pretty cool I could get it at such a discount, but to be honest the UCX II added features - direct-to-USB recording (for jams away from home), TotalMix, more I/O… plus the fact RME already is pretty ‘high quality’ in terms of audio quality, seems like a nice package for me for just a few hundred € more… and I’m really not sure if my ears could detect the audio quality difference. But i wonder if I’d be foolish not to take advantage of such a discount.
Would love to hear from anyone who’s used both RME and MT-48!
I have no expertise on any of this, but I’d go with the RME just because everyone everywhere is always so in love with them. You’d get more functions, it’s known to sound great, and the calmness of knowing they keep their drivers updated for longer then most of their competition.
Not sure if you guys are still considering the MT-48 but I have one. It would be helpful if you let me know what kind of gear and computer you use (no linux drivers) and what you’re hoping it will do for you.
I’d say it’s very good when expecting everything to be top notch, but I also think it’s priced a bit high. The screen is really nice but not as good as a phone screen but most importantly, using it with the physical outputs along with the built in plugins is all good and well displayed. I had trouble getting ADAT to work but that could be my old and banged up eurorack module’s fault. It does what I expect and I don’t think it necessarily has better audio quality than any other good interface like the RME, but it tops out the available range of goodness for audio quality just like RME. I’d expect no audible difference in audio quality but there are tons of details to compare in the specs if you have special requirements.
Does anyone know if these MT48 midi adapters are trs type A or B?
I would like to use’m with my Tasty Chips Integral which requires type A.
I’ve been searching the interwebs, but I can’t find any info about them being type A or B…
I’m assuming they are “the standard” trs type A, but I would like to be sure before I order them, so if anyone knows, help would be much appreciated.
As far as I can find, it should be type B. Found a couple of retailers listing it as such, but none listing it as type A. Of course the type only matters for the TRS end of things.
