Need advice: Digitakt, first batch

Hi,

New member, but passive reader for a while.

I just got an offer to buy a Digitakt from the first batch of production (the DT was bought the same day it was released). I was wondering if i should buy it or save some more money and buy i new fresh one.

Is there any known problems with the first batch of DTs?

The seller says that the DT suffered from “sticky buttons” but sent it to elektron and they replaced the whole front panel of the digitakt.

Is there any of you that have the first batch and have some kind of problems with it (except sticky buttons)?

Nah you’re fine. A few had buttons thay needed some unsticking by pressing them repeatedly I believe, and a couple had the wrong named buttons, or double stop buttons etc, but that was all there really was.
They have great customer support so if there was something wrong they’ll normally sort if

I think you should be ok too - no idea if mine is first batch but I had a sticky number 3 - it’s eased off the more I use it but still occasionally takes a split second to pop back up.
Admittedly it can be a nuisance to begin with if you get one with a dodgy button and I was initially very unimpressed with the quality of these buttons compared to older machines but hey…
I’ve checked many other machines in stores and my friend also has a Digitakt and the buttons on those felt a lot smoother.

I am always a big fan of buying new with any gear, but that reservation aside… You will be fine.

Aside from sticky buttons and the occasional button in the incorrect place, I haven’t seen anyone with issues from the first run. There just aren’t enough moving parts on the Digitakt to designate any major issues with the product.

As always with any gear, check for loose connections, wiggly posts, and cracked/scratched anything.
