Yeah got that email today as well
Pretty cool
Yes, but only the “play” version which is missing the master section incl. effects, step sequencer etc.
Thanks for the heads up!
Ooooh, shiny ! Me want
It’s great, however I’m a bit disappointed as I only bought the full version two weeks ago! I was hoping for something like Phasis or Driver again.
Still, can’t complain and this is an excellent thing for those interested in trk-01
Regarding CPU usage: TRK-01 uses Reaktor which is single core, so it naturally uses a ton of CPU. Even on my 6 Core several instances of it get my CPU usage to 60-70%.
I hope that Reaktor gets multi core at some.
you should have have that 60 to 70 percent on just one core. Its quite difficult to calculate one audio stream in parallel because you will have to wait for the result of one calculation to do the next. Thats why the DSPs from Universal Audio also cant do that – every plug-in must run on one dsp. You use the power of a multicore system by using different plug-ins that calculate different instances on different cores.
Depends on the number of streams processed or the polyphony of a synth plugin. For example, multicore mode can work really well with the u-he plugins I own…
I’m just wondering if anyone out there uses this regularly? I got it as part of my Komplete upgrade a long time ago and never really messed with it.
My questions are:
(1) Do you mind working within the separate sequencer inside the DAW? For track composition purposes, I’m wishing I could do the Ultrabeat trick where you could just drag the midi out to a track and arrange like that, so I’m wondering if I’ll be able to learn to gel with this sequencer in a sequencer workflow.
(2) When you are doing your final mix do you record the individual outputs to audio first and then tweak them as audio tracks or just do everything inside the plug-in?
It was fun for a while, but I didn’t actually use it for anything ultimately.
Yeah, it sounds good, but it’s not very user friendly. That’s my impression about Reaktor in general (and in some ways NI as a whole) but it could just be me.
I found this guy’s video today and it’s helpful in understanding how to slot it in to a project, but it’s kind of hilarious in that it’s basically a “how the f*** do you use this?!” kind of a video.
That’s my usual reaction with NI products.
