I heard something about visa problems and a key videographer being absent. Nick’s ready, and will certainly be covering the show ( remotely ) on SonicTalk.
I expect Amanda and Catsynth TV will be there as is tradition. ( She lives in San Francisco. )

Today (13 Jan), Abbey Road Studios and Chandler Limited proudly unveil the REDD Mixing System, a groundbreaking, fully modular console that brings together every era of EMI’s legendary recording equipment in one elegant, expandable format.
Marking the first EMI Recording console released in over 50 years, the REDD Mixing System lets users design their ideal setup, combining REDD, TG, and RS channels and busses in any configuration, from home studios to world-class control rooms.
Six years in the making, the system was developed through an intensive collaboration and experimentation process between Wade Goeke of Chandler Limited, Mirek Stiles, Abbey Road’s Head of Audio Products, and the wider Abbey Road team.
Then they just repeat that down the page in various categories – two times for Keyboards & Synths, three times for Winds & Strings and for Pro Audio, four times for Guitars, five times for Drums.
In the Keyboards & Synths section they also list the very cool MODX M keyboards announced back in October. ( thread )
One of the reasons they said their not going on a podcast. Saying its a bit too general now and they have a lot of events on the calandar to keep up with more focused… Which sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
… I do have some anticipation for what else they may announce in keyboards and synths. Two separate things now – that each could be multiple products. Yamaha can certainly still surprise, but they may also just be bringing us some more of the same. The MODX M is really well done though.
Their DTX-MULTI 12 ( in the Drums category i guess ) is so old and irrelevant now ( against its competitors ), it would well stand for a modernized replacement.
JooseBoks – You stay at the front of the curve with Behringer announcements. I notice they’ve been super quiet now for a few weeks.
Any thoughts on what might show up at NAMM this year. Last year it was prototypes of the JT-16, the Pro-16, and the BX1. None of these have made it into production so far. ( Hell there are some dingbats that think Behringer completely cancelled the Pro-16, and the VCS3. )
I think one of these three may be announced as being in production and about to ship. I think it may be too early for the BX1 to be shipping, but we may see the latest iteration of it.
There are so many possibilities on what may show up though, along with the entirely unexpected.
Fuck knows, they’re way too premature when it comes to announcing what they have in development but going off the current 4-5 year announcement/release schedule aren’t the PolyEight, Model D Soul, Saturn Soul and Hiro Tribe Soul due about now…
But then again they have so many unreleased synths it could be anything, even the BCR32
I will buy the hirotribe the moment it’s announced for actual sale and I bet a lot of other people will too. I have really fond monotribe memories and would absolutely love one with full midi.
I’m not sure what Yamaha could do to make me excited. The keybed on my MODX6 was the worst I’ve ever played. Seriously, it was worse than my Arturia Keystep. And the menu diving on that thing was a special level of hell that would make Roland blush.
The stage piano they released a few years back (CP73?) was pretty nice. But it’s a stage piano…who cares?
