My next synth... Advices welcome

Digitone and Digitakt is dope, I just got one. Amazing combo.

SE-02 is a great 3-osc analogue (have one, love it) but it’s mono, not poly… most of the digital boutiques can do 4-note poly but they’re generally recreations of vintage Roland synths that had relatively simple architectures. Sound really good but would not have the range of sound design options of the Hydra, Peak, A4 etc.

@finalform thanks for the info.
Was aware of that
Mono, Poly… I am not in the search for the one that will fit all the bill… Impossible I believe :yum:
But one that would respond nicely to program and bank changes from DT would also be a plus  I believe all synths are not equal in this regard…

FWIW I use the Peak for mono bass sounds all the time… it’s really good at it and very fast to dial in.

I see OB-6 is missing in your list.
I own Peak, A4, Digitone, but OB-6 is still the king of them all. I mean, what a sound!!
I was told it’s mostly sweet spots, I can now confirm.

Seriously though, for your budget, dig deeper the A4 lead: you won’t find better bang for your buck! I see some for around 500€. Insane.

This is a great thing to help narrow your search! :raised_hands:

I’ll second this :+1:

Yeah… Lots of people say this… I haven’t allowed myself to play an OB6 out of fear!

Analog 4 Vs MkII
What is the difference?

Pulse 2 also sounds fantastic. Very versatile and programming is much easier than the Blofeld. Although it’s only paraphonic.

You’ll find plenty of comparison on this forum.
Price is the biggest difference.
UX is second: more buttons, better encoders (although new one need you to get used to it)
I feel like the sound is better on mk2, I love the distorsion that has been added (wasn’t really using the left one on mk1).
Guarantee, obviously.

But it’s still basically mostly the same synth.

This topic went balistic.
Now we talk business.

I am at the same boat, want poly - P12 or Hydra. To add to AK, which sounds nice but not really poliy.

P12 has some crazy presets done by sounds engineers.

Good to hear you saying this @LyingDalai.
I was quite sure I would be getting the new Hydrasynth but now I’m wondering if it would be better to gather the extra money and go for the OB-6? Maybe a stupid question but I’m often intrigued by the more exotic digital wavetable synths like the Virus TI2 and now the ASM Hydrasynth with their huge amount of sound shaping/modulation options and great sound design possibilities.

I’ve had the OB-6 as my want-to-buy dream synth for years now and I believe the OB-6 has a fantastic warm and charismatic sound and is also capable of many timbres and textures. Probably that basic great sound is going to get me better results in the end of the day?
I’m going to be using it with the DN, AR and OT.

Other comments are still welcome.

Vermona 14" should be on the list
