Mute mode & external midi controller

Hello,
Mute mode doesn’t work when pad/tracks are triggering by an external midi controller. Is there a solution to solve this problem?

So what’s the exact steps you do (channels etc)- this isn’t reported as a problem by anyone else iirc ?

I configure a drumrack in ableton live. With this drumrack i can play each tracks(or pad) of the AR but, even if i mute a pad (BD track for example) on the analog rytm, this track still “unmute” when i play it in ableton live. I have the same problem with akai mpc 1000…

This is how it’s always worked AFAIK. The idea is that the mutes only mute the internal sequencer, not the voices. If using ext sequencing/triggering, the mute needs to happen on the sending end. This makes sense if you stop and think about it for a second, more flexible.

Ok i suspected something like this… For me, that will be more simple in live set up because i use MPC 1000 to sequence analog rytm.

Just a ditto… Mute is for the seq, not the voice.

I’ve also noticed while playing with my Kat pads that if you “play” over a sequenced track, that your live performance has precedence over the seq voice.

I am building our new live set now, and also prefer triggering the RYTM from Ableton (due to easier back-up and quicker transfer of our material from Cubase to live)

But I want to be able to mute and “play” the Rytm as part of the performance. So I am thinking about some kind of midi routing etc, and then I came across this M4L script, maybe it works:

Can’t really think of a scenario where you’d want the mutes on the Rytm to not work. Even if being sequenced externally… Why would you want that?

Isn’t it much nicer to just send the pattern to the Rytm and then use the Mute Mode?

If i want to mute the notes on the external device, I can do that as well and just leave Mute Mode off…
