Oh man I promised myself to not buy any more gear without patch storage and midi CC control, but now this… Must… resist…!

There’s something so fun with a synth that has the controls right there in front of you.

What you tweak is what you get.

Ive pre-ordered one. One thing i dont know is with Sample and Hold how you get an Arp like effect with different notes being played? Anyone?

I’m actually impressed they got all those trimmers lined up back there.
Those engineers did a pretty good job getting the sound of it as well. They certainly know their circuits.

This image shows that, with them all nicely labeled too :

Also this image to show the connections on the back.

A lot of people have this false conception that all you have to do is copy the old schematics. They don’t realize how much circuitry has changed, and how much those old through hole bits could vary. It’s commendable how close they get to the originals, which themselves varied a little bit in sound from one sh5 to the next, and to also have the foresight to provide access to all those trimmers shows how much they worked on this one. The most access I’ve ever seen to easy access to trimmers on a synth I’ve owned was two. This has got access to what looks like 29. Crazy. It also sounds pretty darn good too. This will be a fun one to wiggle on.

On the back, is that an “Auto-Tune” button or a trimmer ?

Also on the back from the spec :

  • Controllers: VCF, VCO, Output + Input on 1/4” TS Jacks
  • EXT Input: Trig + Audio 1/4" TS Jacks
  • CV: Keyboard CV output + input, Keyboard

Sounds and looks great, wish it had a smaller foot print though. The trimmers is a nice feature TBH.

A desktop version of this would be great, altho not sure how much smaller they could make it with quite a lot going on. Sounds and looks great but I just don’t have the room for it :frowning:

That might be hard to do, without squeezing it down to a Roland Boutique sort of size, or bringing in complication with modes on the controls, or menus and screens.

No screens ! Freedom !

This looks more like a Synth than most. One of the 1970’s beauties. It is way easier to understand and simple means more fun imo.

Yea not too small :stuck_out_tongue: a desktop version or semi modular would slap, I don’t need another KB

You can always chop the keys. A local does it all the time. Beh MonoPoly, MatrixBrute and Hydrasynth Explorer

I haven’t listened too closely but I wonder if this is a better option than the ms1 mk2 … costs a bit more but the benefit is they haven’t implemented that awful sequencer.

looks and sounds great in the video.
