I’m actually impressed they got all those trimmers lined up back there.
Those engineers did a pretty good job getting the sound of it as well. They certainly know their circuits.
A lot of people have this false conception that all you have to do is copy the old schematics. They don’t realize how much circuitry has changed, and how much those old through hole bits could vary. It’s commendable how close they get to the originals, which themselves varied a little bit in sound from one sh5 to the next, and to also have the foresight to provide access to all those trimmers shows how much they worked on this one. The most access I’ve ever seen to easy access to trimmers on a synth I’ve owned was two. This has got access to what looks like 29. Crazy. It also sounds pretty darn good too. This will be a fun one to wiggle on.
A desktop version of this would be great, altho not sure how much smaller they could make it with quite a lot going on. Sounds and looks great but I just don’t have the room for it
That might be hard to do, without squeezing it down to a Roland Boutique sort of size, or bringing in complication with modes on the controls, or menus and screens.
I haven’t listened too closely but I wonder if this is a better option than the ms1 mk2 … costs a bit more but the benefit is they haven’t implemented that awful sequencer.
