MPC Thread : MPC Live - MPC X - MPC One (Part 3)

was the air vocal harmonizer included with that?

I hear what you’re saying for sure. I’m considering a One + just in the context of gigs. I only need a midi in, two audio ins and two audio outs for that and the smaller footprint would be very helpful. If I ever sell my Live 2, it would be to get an X SE I think. But in my live performance context, it’s largely just sample playback with the best audio quality possible

the MPC one can expand it’s i/O as well with a usb mixer/soundcard… just a reminder, and best to check the site for best compatibility

I’ve seen a few videos on how the maschine plus works, and it seems to be more immediate than the mpc, fewer steps to adjust volumes, mute, etc., for live situations maybe it could be a good and small alternative

Maybe I’ll check one out at some point! I think I’m going get more and more into MPC’s as time goes on. I just don’t really get the workflow yet…

Have you installed the MPC3 beta yet? It doesn’t support clip programs at the moment (nor for the foreseeable future, if ever), but it might be easier to “wrap your mind around the workflow” (and you can always easily downgrade back to 2.15 or whatever).

I think I spent a lot of time trying to figure out “the workflow” and honestly I don’t even know what that means anymore… I don’t make full productions solely on the MPC, but I know how to use it in some great ways with some other things in my studio. It’s a great sampler and has some great onboard synths (especially with the paid plugins). MPC3 has made it easier to not have to worry about programs, and operating the machine is much more immediately intuitive (albeit more limited) when programs and tracks don’t need to be manually/intentionally connected.

With the addition of plugins in these years the MPC has become a super versatile instrument, but version 3.0 has screwed me a bit, I have always used it as a midi-looper for all my instruments, but with this new version I have lost the midi mapping of the mute and solo buttons, and in addition it sends all the sounds of the other instruments to maximum volume :roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

The mpc one+ and Maschine+ are for me the best grooveboxes that really inspire me a lot these days. Creating a song per day on these things. Love that. Especially now with mpc3 it fits my workflow brain perfectly.

I can say the mpc and maschine cured my GAS.

I guess I was just waiting on the official 3.0 release. I switched this week from Clip programs to just loading everything into a drum program and firing it off from my Syntakt. Much preferred that, so no issues there!

For all those who purchased Creative FX to install Delay Pro on the MPC, here is Air’s answer…
“The Delay Pro in the Creative FX Collection 2 is only for desktop computers and won’t be able to work/activate on MPC Standalone devices. The separate Delay Pro which does have standalone support, will work on both the MPC Hardware and desktop computers.”
Ehm…

The MPC workflow is simply linear sequencing. It’s not clip-based or pattern-based.

If you want to build an idea around a 1 or 2-bar loop, you can do that. If you want to program a 72 bar sequence, you can do that.

That has been the main difference between the MPC and other devices. The use of programs (now tracks), keygroups and plugins have their particular functions in an MPC but the main thing that people refer to when it comes to workflow is the sequencing.

You can create your sequences and then if you like, string them together using song mode.

No, the list of 40 plugins included is at AIR Creative FX Collection 2 • PluginFox.

But the Air Vocal Harmoniser already came included on my MPC Live 2.

Bummed the latest update jacked up the Linked recordings to audio tracks. I’m probably the only person that does this so who knows if it’ll get fixed.

I use the MPC with Link and it’s sync’d to Ableton Live. In Live I create sequences in the arrange view and record them to audio tracks.

Before the latest update, the audio tracks would adjust itself post recording to be tight on the beat. Now it over adjusts and is off beat a little

Please report – that sounds like something they should know about but could miss if testers are not testing that particular use case!

are you able to use that license in standalone mode on your MPC as well?

Yes, I’ve actually not even installed the plugins on my PC.

I’ve only used the Air Creative FX Collection 2 activation code in the inMusic Software Centre to activate it, and doing that allowed me to activate and download the Air Delay Pro plugin on my MPC.

If this is the case, I think the One+ should be just fine. As @captain8 says if you really need more IO you can expand by mounting an interface underneath your board or whatever you’re using for your live setup. Personally when I got mine, I struggled over the decision between a Live 2 and One+. Even though the extra features of the Live 2 all sounded very appealing (especially the IO) I went with the One+ because it really is the best form factor of them all.

That damn volume knob is annoying as hell, but I compensate by leaving it maxed and adjusting volume on whatever it’s going into or in the MPC itself.

That’s kinda how it’s meant to be used.

Not when you use headphones a lot! I like my hearing!
