Generally yes, however there are Air plugins that aren’t available on the MPC - as these two are I assumed it would work as normal but there is normally mention of it in the description, this time there isn’t so just wanted to check as you can’t normally get refunds on this stuff.
Ether is a brilliant plugin - if anything it almost does too much! But I’m excited to use it on dub techno projects as it’s covering a lot of bases. It’s probably the first MPC plugin I’ve bought that I’ll use more in the DAW than on my MPC.
Right. Ether and Sprite were both AIR VSTs without MPC versions (for a year and a half or more). I had a license for both of them in my account from when they were released to retail. Once they were released on MPC Standalone, they instantly appeared as able to be activated and installed on my MPC (since I had not already activated them on 3 devices).
My point is that there is no such thing as an AIR VST license that excludes MPC support for those plugins that are also available on MPC Standalone. It doesn’t matter whether a store selling license codes lists MPC compatibility for AIR plugins that can operate as both a VST plugin in a DAW and an MPC Standalone plugin. One license fits all.
It’s not the first I’ll use more on the daw but it will likely be THE most used air plugin now for me. All the ones I got from them have become staples in my productions this one might rapidly take the throne
Akai is a sampling beast, but there should be a one-shot loop pad mode where the pad will just keep looping the sample start & end until you press it again. The Force 3.5 just added something like that but its only for Note-On mode:
Repeats
• Setting Repeats
o You can now set a sample to play a number of times.
o Load a Drum Track and go to Track Edit > Samples Page.
o Choose pad with a sample already assigned
o Turn Pad Loop On
o Set the Repeats parameter to the number of repeats you want to hear, for example, a value of four would play the sample four times.
• Note:
o Repeats after the first play will play between the Sample Loop and End point
o The behavior difference been Repeats = 0 or 1 is only evident when a Pads
Sample Play parameter is set to Note On. Now when holding a note 0 = infinite
repeats and 1 will play a sample once through.
So close. On the Force there’s clip-matrix workaround, but it’s clunky. I think the 404mk2 can do it & I know the SP505 can. This feature would be so dope for jammin’!
LOL, and I just downgraded back to 2.5. I tried to make a song in 3 using sequences with track mutes and it didn’t work. I thought that maybe I had heard they fixed that issue, but it seemed like song mode didn’t work for me in MPC3.
Couple of new expansions from NI available now. I’ve had the Queensbridge one by Havoc from Mobb Deep for a very long time. It’s gotta be pushing 10 now.
NI seems lazy in this partnership. I guess that was predictable considering the current state of affairs over there. Not sure why it takes them so long to convert their expansions over to MPC. Took me an hour or so to convert my whole NI expansion library to MPC kits using Kitmaker.
No biggie, there is no shortage of great samples and MpC kits available. Also, as the most recent videos shared above suggest, I have the most fun chopping up various audio sources and making my own kits.
The JJOS was last updated a few months ago, so he’s still around, but it’s up to Akai the ring the alarm & get him back on the team. The JJOS is like 20 years old. They need to him a noble peace prize for his 2 decades of dedication.
Why JJOS features would you like to have on the new MPCs?
Going to try 3.0 again on standalone, but can you export to Ableton, or is that still not available? From what I found online, it seems not — but that was from a post earlier this year
