Okay, been 12 minutes and no crackle from my ES9. Yo, I actually want to cry tears of joy and relief.
Also, I don’t have to register my plugins every power cycle.
Looks good so far guys. Looks good so far.
everything sounds very samey and digitally harsh
So like typical NI stuff, you mean?
I know this is kind of a left field request given the news today, but could anyone point me to a clear instruction on how to get my MPC Live 2 back to a INIT status. I didn’t know about not saving to the internal memory when I bought it years ago and didn’t have the organization understood. With 3.4 being released I’m gonna wipe it and start from scratch. I don’t want to brick it though. I’ve looked on other forums and seem to only find convoluted debates.
Is that the new beta? You know what they changed/fixed?
If I remember right, if you go to System Preferences, then Info there’s a factory reset option.
If you want to move your stuff off of the internal drive to an SD card, that’s also possible but I remember it being really tedious. I think I moved them one at a time on the MPC itself.
Honestly I want to get rid of all my old projects and samples from both internal and SSD.
When I sold mine a few years ago I recall having a WTF moment. I’m pretty sure I had to delete my samples and projects manually.
That said, my head is filled with bong resin so I could be totally wrong!
Official release I believe
They added some features for keygroups and this native instrument play integration as far i can see.
I just made a sketch with cloud supply trial, its sounds good but i noticed noise/crack when playing chords. Anyone else has this too?
Could not resist but look on the NI forums for response to this and as I expected

****** NI
So Play Series is now available on Akai’s Mpc, but not available on Native Instruments Maschine+.
NI does not give af about its users, just a money grab at this point. Absolutely terrible!
Surely Machine sales will be dead in the water without some reassurances
The Keygroup stuff is separate to the NI stuff as we’ve had it in Betaland for the last few weeks. There is some absolutely banging stuff going on there, new modulation matrix, LFOs, totally different filter setup, so powerful.
I’m really hoping that they take a similar route with CV and maybe even midi channels but it’s a welcome addition and I’ve been using KGs a whole lot more now they are so flexible.
Worth noting that while it’s being called a full release, there are still loads of things that are weird or need fixed as per the latest version I’ve had hands on, none of which really cause me any direct problems but it’s by no means a tight ship. That being said, the work that Akai have done with MPC3 and the levels of responsivenes to bug reports and stuff has been really positive.
I’m not even remotely arsed by the NI stuff but I guess it’s nice that there are tools for the folks that find those sort of big fancy romplers useful.
I’ve had that thought ever since NI was clearing out their B-Stock.
The Loopop video with the “Native Instruments Plugins” pointing to the MPC makes it seem like the plugins will run on MPC. The Anderton’s video with Andy states that the plugin patches have been sampled and the NI packs have all been converted to samples using the Akai/Air sample player and effects.
So I installed 3.4.1 on my MPC One.
Shutdown lag is still there. They said it’s a beta issue.
Menu -> New Project takes forever like in the beta.
Bleah!
So now AKAI has a better interface to NI stuff than NI itself. Not just Play Series but also the touch screen for effects which you don’t even have in latest Komplete Kontrol keyboard.
Also expect AKAI to develop faster updates to its NI integration than NI on its hardware.
Gonna hold off an X SE until Friday but I am assuming by the official promo video new hardware is prob unlikely at this point
I’d love to see Massive on MPC. It would be a killer combo.
But since Play Series are sample based, and Massive is a true reaktor-based synth, I doubt it’ll ever happens.
Go for it & good luck with that manual from hell.
I was on my 1k last night after not using it for a while & remembered how it can easily transpose notes by a set value. The current models should a have octave up/down tab in the grid editor, but at least you don’t have to keep stopping the sequencer. I always forget about that part about the 1k. You win some, you lose some…
The advanced key group editor is pretty nifty. Love the per voice pitch drifts.
