A couple of years ago, I was enticed by the idea of splice integration, but I had some weird issue on my MPC where it would say there was some sort of error with a few samples in my collection and it would never successfully complete. I reached out to Splice and InMusic support, they couldn’t help me or identify why it was happening. I decided to stop worrying about splice integration entirely and just took the download directories on my computer and put them on my Live’s ssd. It literally makes no difference to me now that my acquired collections are on my device, and to be honest, I like it better that I don’t have any of that shit linked up.

It should ā€œjust work,ā€ but if/when it doesn’t, just download the samples to a safe spot on your computer and put the folders on your device. In my opinion, that’s a pretty minor issue in terms of whether the MPC would be a good fit for you or not.

Thanks but I have an ot and sp now. Was thinking of getting a mpc again but I think I need to stop buying and just make stuff. Though the keys 37 maybe something down the line

Thanks everyone for the feedback on Splice integration.
I just purchased an MPC Live 2.

Looking forward to music making sessions on the couch.

Seems like they’ve been OOS for a while now, wish I could find one new.

Ok. Now I’m getting more excited about Stems.

I’d like to hear an example of how well stems can extract hip hop vocals, I haven’t seen anyone do that so far.

What would make HH vocals any different then other music?

You & them toilet beats. It would the shit if you made a mixtape base on it. Anybody got some cool name for the LP/songs? :poop:

A lot of the hip hop I want to extract vocals from has layers to it, where sometimes there is a vocal sample of a singer pitched up or down, or some other element that is apparently difficult for stem separators to identify as a unique part of the music other than the rap vocal. Basically, in my experience having something else which is or can be confused for a human voice playing while someone is rapping makes some stem separators include that as part of the vocal stem and that then it makes them unusable.

I’m curious about reverb drenched vocals, like Chelsea Wolfe. I have an idea to use some of her long notes as pads.

I can see that being an issue too. good call.

I mean shit, if it’s ten bucks and I can carry it over ONTO the hardware without an additional cost, I’ll probably risk it. It’s not a huge investment, but I’m mostly curious as to how good or how advanced their software is.

Sampled based beats with vocals totally slipped my mind.

Saul goode. It’s really hit or miss though, and it’s kinda important for my needs, so if I see it in action I’ll feel better.
