MPC Thread : MPC Live - MPC X - MPC One (Part 2)

I had the same same problem with my TR6-S. The only solution I found was to use 5 pin MIDI.

this jogdial is the one, machinedrum like feels

I’ll try and take a picture later next to the standard data knob so you can see the difference in size. I wish there was enough real estate on the front panel for them to give it the diameter of a machinedrum jog.

I can tell it’s way smaller, I just love the jog dial with the little circular indent/dimple on it. Reminds me of old hi-fi gear.

My old yamaha recorder has one like that, the smooth wideboy with an indent, and I’m super accustomed to using it so it’s like an old friend.

This is the height difference, which is negated by the actual mounting height. The skirt rides above the deck as opposed to sitting in the recess.

For the functionality I actually like it a lot, just speaking for my preferences though.

MPC1000 jog wheel works well on the One also……lower profile and you can spin it too.

This is the knob to get

I have it for my Key 37 and I love it. Just don’t install it too low, or it won’t click in.

Done! :stuck_out_tongue:

what am I looking at?

I’ve cut it the half and replaced the transport controls with the screen.

I’ve been looking to try out an MPC and the Keys 37 actually looks like a pretty good proposition, especially since I like to play in my sequences. Sure, I could just get a One + and use my Keystep, but there’s something alluring to having it in an all in one package,

This link for the Black Friday sales is still live and working, for now. Just bought a couple synths a couple minutes ago!

(Saw this on another forum and thought I’d share)

Have you had luck activating these on the mpc?

In the Fastpring store, you need to enter the email address of the InMusic account you are using on MPC at checkout.

Yeah. Activated and played the OP4. My internet is being slow so Fabric XL kept erroring before dinner. Haven’t gone back to check.

Fabric XL loaded. Both are solid.

The 37 looks like total “no brainer first hardware.” Enough simplicity to get you going, but depth if you want it. Sample based, but with some synths, without being Omnisphere or something. The same pads as the One, but also decent size keys (without being microscopic.) Obviously it won’t be perfect but your point made me think something similar. One box and done. DAW for polishing.

There are only a couple possible considerations for me. First, Ableton controller mode would have been cool to have on the keys, but not a biggie. And if AKAI go big on the plugins, might it get a bit underpowered with the 2gb? At least with a One+ and keyboard, you can swap out the unit for an upgrade, and also travel with that standalone if that’s a consideration. Minor things, and maybe they don’t matter, but just a couple things i was weighing this one as an option.

A quick one for the group on the One is I have heard things about the headphone jack if you are on the go with it (basically I heard some stories online that they have been known to fail after a while?) I usually take that with a pinch since that’s complainers online. Anyone got a thought on that if you take it around even lightly at home? Does it feel likely to break or is it more the sound quality that people are worried about?

This wasn’t on my radar but the 37 and the One+ have me interested in the platform overall again.
