You can, but neither Ableton Live or the MPC like being the slave/sync’d device and it can cause some issues.
The best way I’ve found is Ableton Link.
Not if you have programs from other MPCs that used 16 pads & want to transfer them to the 500, Those 4 missing pads will feel like 4 missing kids to some users workflow.
Serious TV man voice: It’s 10pm do you know where your pads are?
Awesome - maybe it’s my cable and I’ve tried a couple. Ableton doesn’t recognize my MPC and my MPC doesn’t see my computer. I’ll try again!
Thanks!
Have you done the Akai Network Midi thing?
You need that connected to your MPC IIRC.
If I’m in using Ableton and want to sync my MPC, I’ll generally either use Ableton Link or use the MPC plugin and put the (hardware) MPC into controller mode.
It appears Ableton only recognizes the MPC when it’s in controller mode, so it’s not the USB cable.
I don’t know, I’m not seeing a way to send midi clock to the MPC via USB due to the fact the two things don’t recognize each other.
I can’t find a tutorial on how to do it on YouTube either. Curious
Link works on my MPC though!
I wish the MPC had a Crossfader. Here’s me just having fun with it on the Force. I’m not a DJ but I love “Scratching” on synths.
The audio is too hot for the camera but the performance was cool & thought I was also recording the fader automation…I wasn’t…Shit! So this video is all I got before I went to bed. I make a better version later.
Yup. Which is why it’s never going to happen.
Too bad. The only thing I really need the screen for is trimming and chopping. Everything else I found to be perfectly ok on the 500.
They didn‘t put an ssd port into the small keyboard?
That VX is the shit. I love how it sounds.
Nope, I still don’t get why people are getting hung up about stuff like this either, not that I’m saying that’s what your question is, I think to hit a certain price point some stuff has to fall by the wayside and let’s face it the speeds of a good quality fast micro sd card aren’t far off an ssd these days…
Yep, agreed… it’ll only really be an issue if they bring disk streaming to the MPC.
Wonder if the IAMFORCE firmware works on the new MPC Key 37, could make it more appealing to me if it does?
It the same OS so it should work. Ask on their Facebook page.
Wow.
That actually makes a lot of sense as a musical device—sort of “best plus best” re certain classes of product.
I wonder if MPC users could be sold on the idea that they needed a hardware synth, and for a greater size and cost, vs. the softsynths they’ve already got. That might determine if such a thing would sell.
I’d be tempted if I didn’t have an MPC and a Moog. Hell, I’d be tempted anyway.
MPC Live
when ever I go into Pad Perform the octave changes.
when I switch modes…Chords, Progressions etc, the octave changes. WTF?
what have I done [its 95% my fault when shit happens]
Yeah, a bit annoying. I don’t know if there’s a workaround or a setting to change, but frankly I just got used to press the ± Octave button to move to the right range.
wow
[thanks for quick response]
I’m positive some could, especially when they saw the routing possibilities and sonic potential of running samples through analog filters etc. I think it would be grossly expensive though, and that would have a polarizing effect on mpc core users vs the synth community looking for more sonic potential out of hardware samplers.
Packaged correctly though (unlike like my photomess) I’m sure some people would be shifting in their seats.
Was the ‘f’ intentional?
A SynthMpc would be pretty weird I guess.
