That is an excellent idea. It’s kind of what I had in mind with the Last Page button because I often find myself switching back and forth between two things. But your idea would be even better!
I often get lost when eg editing an insert fx parameter of a sound and then having to step out to the main or mix page to solo the current track and then navigate back to the same insert fx. This would be solved with dedicated solo/mute buttons of course, but that’s an example of when the Last Page button would be useful.
When in Program Edit is it not possible to write automation for the Filter Cutoff when you select ALL keygroups or drum pads?
I know individual keygroups and pads can be automated… not sure if I’m missing something when it comes to automating the Filter Cutoff across the whole program though…?
This is unfortunately not (yet) possible. “All Keygroups” is just a convenient way of editing all keygroup parameters at once (they are applied for each keygroup). It’s not a real entity and it isn’t automatable. Too bad isn’t it? Would be so awesome if you could automate the filters or envelopes of keygroups.
(And you could add a filter effect on the keygroup program and automate the cutoff but that is not interacting with the envelopes /velocity /lfo etc. of the keygroup)
Rocking the RME Babyface PRO/MPC Live 1 combo and sounds fantastic in both playback & recoding!Highly recommended! Also tried a Behringer X32 console with the same results
Can I ask you a favour? On the Access Virus group someone claims they got usb audio running on the MpC One, I tried but after I select it it just reverts to the internal one, even if the clock on my ti is set to 44100. Can you try on your end?
The Erase button is amazing, I use that all the time. Super fast and easy compared to mousing the eraser over notes.
Also is there a button to expand to the volume fader (looks like an eyeball)? Thats a small little icon to press on a touchscreen. I use that one constantly.
Midi works fine but I’m dubious about the audio working. That would be using the TI as a soundcard, but I don’t think it is USB audio class compliant? I could be wrong though, I didn’t think the USB midi worked for a long time. I have tried the TI with an iPad in the past and it definitely didn’t work with that as a soundcard.
I own a MPC and a TI2. No, that doesn’t work. No sound, only midi.
What @Kosmology said, the Virus is not class-compliant. You need a driver, so that’s a no-go for the MPC/iPad. I admit, it would have been nice though.
I may be stepping away from my desire to have one box to rule them all. While I absolutely love my MPC One, I have watched a few too many reviews on the Korg Minilogue XD (Desktop Module) to not fall in love with the sounds it’s able to generate. I’m going to buy one used to explore if this is for me and if I can get it to work nicely with my MPC workflow.
I know it won’t be super straightforward given my preference to work across multiple sequences because I know the audio tracks don’t save the wet/release tail of synth sounds beyond the sequence length.
The only workaround I’ve found is to manually record using the Sampler, where I can stop a sequencer and let the sampling continue so the entire tail is recorded before stopping the recording. At that point, I guess I’ll have to create a sample program and keep all pattern variations as one-shot samples. I’m sure it’ll work fine but it sure would be nice if the audio track recorder was a little more flexible so it could capture the tail of an audio track and let it play out fully while starting playback of the audio track of the next sequence.
I have a few synths that would probably crossover with the Minilogue XD (Moog Matriarch, Prophet Rev2 and Elektron A4 Mk2 being closest I think…), but I do really like the form factor of the keyboard version.
I’m sure there would be things about the Minilogues sequencer that you would use that would be different to using the MPC, but my experience is that EVERY sound device I own can work with and be sampled into my MPC and further manipulated.
Some of my favourite keygroup programs I have now are from sampling my Matriarch and Analog 4… being able to take these around with me in my Live 2 is amazing.
If I ever hit any limitations with the programs (sync/timings, etc) I know I can just flip the keygroup program to a midi track and reconnect the original device to get it exactly how I want. Then usually auto sample that sound too.
So, I think the Minilogue XD and MPC would be a fantastic match.
Minilogue XD is an excellent (and underrated) synth!
In my opinion, to use external gear with the MPC you have to sequence it live, with midi tracks.
Then, if you want to record the performance, you need an external recorder or a multitrack recorder or a DAW.
