Of course, the changelog just says ā€œbug fixes and stability improvementsā€. Very informative as usual. Anyway, here’s hoping 2.8.1 fixes the bug I documented above. Downloading now…

:crossed_fingers:

Cheers!

Here are the release notes.

Oh, hey, thanks! For future reference, where did you find that info?

Cheers!

Hello, found it on mpc-forums.com. It is actually on the Akaipro site but slightly buried in the content. They haven’t been very vocal about this one for sure. Hopefully they’ll address the annoying track mute behaviour change in the next update.

I must have just missed it on the Akai site. Anyway, thanks again, eh!

Cheers!

I think that is the most frustrating thing about AKAI. They don’t make access easy. Shits always buried in their website.

Contacted support - not possible - sent in a feature request.

Any recommendations for a fader/mixer/controller for the Live? I have an APC40 for Ableton. Almost works, but wondering if I could properly get it working.

Also been wondering if the motorized faders of a mixer like Allen & Heath QU 16 for example could work with MPC Live…If not this could be a killer feature request that will bring mixing inside the box to another level.Imagine this in a live situation!

Well, to expand on the thing I mentioned above: The MPC Live is ALMOST the best there is w/ regards to external controllers: It supports relative MIDI CC. That’s very rare in hardware, and basically allows you to avoid parameter jumps, the bane of every controllerist

The unfortunate thing is that if your controller has a screen, currently the MPC doesn’t have the capacity to inform the controller about current values, so the screen will remain blank. That’s what I was on about.

Concerning specific recommendations, I rate Faderfox controllers highly – robust and small footprint. Also MIDI Fighter Twister is very well-liked.

I’ve not been on my MPCX etc for a while, back to work after 4 months off. So is there a new update? I’m on 2.8 here

Cheers

Having recently acquired an MPC Live, I had to rearrange a bit. I had moved my controller, which I use mostly for DAW control and some Digitakt drumming, to the lower shelf. I had not even thought about using them together really. But I just checked and can confirm that the Akai MPD226 works great with the Live. You can do transport control, sliders, faders, pads, etc. There’s even a preset for Akai MPC in it already. I just plugged it in and it worked. I love magic. LOL. So I imagine that your APC should too, although u might have to use the editor to make a custom layout since it’s designed around the other ā€œLiveā€.

i do have to say that it just seems so strange to have an MPC Controller next to an MPC, just visually seems like some OCD episode or something… but the possibility of using one set of pads to drum and one to control mutes or whatever, or as a giant 32 step sequencer - is making me smile.

enjoy your sunday folks.

u might wanna read up on it and decide if it’s worth it. seems there are lots of issues for folks (more on the MPC forums is where i read about it). i personally just got mine so I don’t know any better one way or the other. I have not had any issues yet, but i’m also not doing much with it except learning the workflow and option right now. But there are Pro level users like Kev Brown who say they are staying with 2.7.2 until 3.0 comes out, so yeah…

The 2.8 introduced behavior that interferes with workflow. The multi midi was MOST welcome. However pads can no longer be auditioned on muted tracks. Not crippling but super annoying.
I actually sold mine to a friend. He then hit the skids, so I bought it back off him. It’s sits in the box with a new MPC stuff skin and screen protector waiting for 3.0

I’m glad you said this. Seriously, a couple nights ago, I was jamming, muted some stuff, and when I couldn’t play those muted sounds manually anymore, I found myself scratching my head like ā€œWait, was it always like this?ā€

Not crazy… Phew!

Cheers!

Anyone got an Allen & Heath QU 16 or a similar controller with motorized faders to test the communication with the MPC?Are the faders responding accordingly?

you’re right
I hope akai consider it as a bug because i also find this new behavior annoying

They have also fixed a bug on the mpc studio where if you are in overdub mode some notes are missed.
