Saw the trailer.

Nope.

I saw Trap just to see how bad it was, I enjoy seeing a trainwreck every once in a while. It was definitely terrible, but I still don’t think it was nearly as bad as Old. Old was monumentally bad, singularly painful and pointless. Gotta be in the top 5 most irredeemably bad movies I’ve seen. I can’t imagine how a movie like that gets shot, and edited without somebody putting a stop to it. Hilarious to imagine what kind of content might’ve gotten cut if the movie I saw was the finished version.

It may be his worst, I dont know because I haven’t seen it in so long. The Rifftrax version was good though.

Really enjoyed this. Some stunning animation and sound design and a heartfelt message. Good stuff

I’m curious about what ‘exec producer’ actually means within tv and film . I suspect it can be just a few phone calls to help funding , possibly involved in actual production / script reviews … I think it’s often used to give more credibility to a show.

I got a credit on an indie movie because I lent the director my Mac as it had Final Cut on it.

You should try your hand at directing a tired, formulaic, preposterous twist-ending film next then…

Can you imagine him using that description when he first gathered cast and crew on day 1 of the shoot.

I doubt many would’ve been shocked.

They wouldn’t at first and then they’d be shocked in the final third when an absolutely ridiculous event happens or the perpetrator turns out to be someone who has never been in the film for the first two thirds.

Just saw this. Real nice. A break from reality. Has that nice surreal anime feel…like, beautiful images and just enough happening to keep you in a nice mood.

Agreed. Hopefully not a spoiler.

I like that they decided to keep it “going” all the time. It definitely gives the movie more movement to keep you engaged.

I always feel like this movie, Following and Eraserhead are related. Obviously not but i like to think one person wrote all of them and the stories are connected somehow…

I know people who got co-author on published academic papers because they did some very minor clerical work for the researchers. It’s not uncommon in academia to get credit for very little. I always imagined it’s often the same in media. And that’s why they say networking is so important…

I remember watching Pi when I was very young. Maybe 11 or 12. Loved the sound design of this movie! Feels like a keystone film of the 90s to me.

I don’t know why i keep giving chance to Netflix movies. This one is also bad. But the visual effects, cinematography and the overall colors were really good.

Agreed , excellent robots and overall style , terrible cliched ‘ evil tech bloke with roll neck jumper’ …

Opus
I enjoyed it , it’s quite eccentric at points and the original music was fun - I’m sure John malkovic enjoyed himself. Reviews online seem mixed.

We watched the Joker sequel last night (Folie a Deux). It wasn’t as bad as the reputation, and I thought it was an interesting interrogation of the legacy of the first movie and a refutation of the fan base that liked the first one for the “wrong reasons.”

As someone who generally hates musicals, the musical numbers were fun. Joaquin did his thing, and Gaga was convincingly crazy. But I can see why it lost a bundle of money: it’s not going to make many people happy. The weirdo fanboys of the first movie don’t like that their anarcho-Jesus is warbling off-key jazz standards, but it’s not enough of a straight up song-and-dance show to please the theater kids. But I thought it was a pretty gutsy way to light a quarter billion dollars on fire in order to make a statement

I think it’s the weakest in the "trilogy "
But still a good one.

For Pi they invented a version of the body filming rig (I think they called it a snorricam or something) which held the camera suspended in front of the actor on a tension mount that allowed them to get those crazy tracking shots. Was also used in requiem for a dream and by various other directors subsequently.

That movie was my jam in 1998 (and subsequent years lol)

This is the film rig in question, but the shot is Jennifer Connelly from Requiem, can’t find a picture of the one from Pi and don’t have time to dig too far right now.

Jennifer Connelly is great in that John Hughes movie with Frank Whaley where his character is a compulsive liar and they get locked inside of a target store overnight.
