Not amazing movie but it was different than most animated movies I’ve seen. I think it’s realistic. Absolutely beautiful music though!
In the event that the new beetlejuice didn’t make it onto anyone’s watch list, there’s really nothing not to like. I’ve watched it a couple of times now and it’s exactly what you’d expect. Maybe not as much impact as the first film but definitely entertaining.
I watched Heretic over the weekend. It’s a pretty good psychological thriller, but a bit hard to talk about without spoilers…
So, the premise of this movie is essentially “What if Barbarian, but that dude was still alive.” It does get a lot of mileage out of some mundane, dorm room-level theological debate, just because of the tension and the apparent stakes. The candle reveal was chef kiss. Also, I had the Final Girl picked wrong. We should let Hugh Grant do things like this more often, because he’s clearly having a blast playing against type.
I’ve heard that the third act goes off the rails, but I didn’t think it was that crazy. Although, maybe I only thought it was reasonable because I’d heard it went off the rails and expected something way worse. There’s a point about pre-determination and fate to be made in there, but it’s Daylight Saving Time and I’m too tired on a Monday for that
One of my favorite movies and i watchit a few times a year. There are so many details to pick up in this movie. Corruption, women’s place in society/politics, education (or lack of), irony!, love vs. obsession, puns… I love the timing of actors in this movie. George Cukor has bunch of these type of movies where it just flows.
I will recommend another one of hers. This one is literally a “how to become viral/famous” lesson.
I will have to check this one out I haven’t seen it yet
I can give the recommendation to not watch “Trap” by Shyamalan. I thought, it could’nt get worse after “Old”, but I was wrong.
Yeah, I definitely felt like I was the one who was trapped, having to finish trap.
I’ve given up with his shit. Every time I’m almost lured in by the trailers for whatever his new project is and then I go “Hannnnng on, this is going to be shite…”
Consequently I haven’t watched one of his films since Devil (2010) and you won’t convince me to change that habit.
Edit: actually I found out he was exec producer on TV series Servant which I really enjoyed. But then exec producer doesn’t really do anything do they…

/me clears throat
That one with wahlberg and the plants was some of the worst trash I’ve ever seen.
Saw the trailer.
Nope.
I saw Trap just to see how bad it was, I enjoy seeing a trainwreck every once in a while. It was definitely terrible, but I still don’t think it was nearly as bad as Old. Old was monumentally bad, singularly painful and pointless. Gotta be in the top 5 most irredeemably bad movies I’ve seen. I can’t imagine how a movie like that gets shot, and edited without somebody putting a stop to it. Hilarious to imagine what kind of content might’ve gotten cut if the movie I saw was the finished version.
It may be his worst, I dont know because I haven’t seen it in so long. The Rifftrax version was good though.
Really enjoyed this. Some stunning animation and sound design and a heartfelt message. Good stuff ![]()
I’m curious about what ‘exec producer’ actually means within tv and film . I suspect it can be just a few phone calls to help funding , possibly involved in actual production / script reviews … I think it’s often used to give more credibility to a show.
I got a credit on an indie movie because I lent the director my Mac as it had Final Cut on it.
You should try your hand at directing a tired, formulaic, preposterous twist-ending film next then…
Can you imagine him using that description when he first gathered cast and crew on day 1 of the shoot.
I doubt many would’ve been shocked.
They wouldn’t at first and then they’d be shocked in the final third when an absolutely ridiculous event happens or the perpetrator turns out to be someone who has never been in the film for the first two thirds.
A co-worker’s apt description was someone who gets out of the way for the right amount of money. ![]()
It is Pi Day. Highly recommended!
